Is this a winnable ticket to fight?

Got a ticket for expired car registration. (Less than 60 days.)
BUT I had renewed the registration, just never put the new sticker on the car.
(Don't judge Chat Icon - I have 4yo twins and an 18 month old, all with some special needs and DH had opened mail and just stuck it away somewhere.)

So if I go to court to fight it, would I win? Or does it not count unless the sticker is on the car? If I'll lose anyway, I'd rather just send in the check for the fine.

TIA

Is the ticket for expired reg or no sticker. I'd fight if it was current and the ticket said expired registration.

Almost positive this happened to my DH. I renewed it for him, only for him to leave it on the counter for so long. In the end, I believe he had to pay ticket.

Thanks! The expired sticker was still on the car. So it's for expired registration but the Reg was not actually expired.

Where would you have to go to fight it? And how much is the ticket?

Just village court, I think. Like a mile away. And come to think of it, when my husband went for some Parking ticket, they gave a blanket pardon to everyone who showed up. Lol

$45

I think you'd win, but is there any way to do it by mail?

That's a good idea! Maybe I can include a confirmation from dmv of the date I renewed.

Not worth it IMO for $45. Just pay it. If you didn't have the time to put the sticker in the car, do you really want to take the time to go to court? Just chalk it up to a lesson learned.

I tried fighting it. Same situation as you... never got around to putting the new sticker on but I had it sitting in my mail pile. Went and wasted 2 hours of my day and was still found guilty. Was not worth trying in my case.

If you don't have to take off work I would give it a shot. If you do, for $45 I would just pay it. It's a non moving violation so no points are involved.
