Is there a list of meds
that you should avoid while TTCing?
I know when I took classes for my RN that the little 'peanut's organs are all formed by age of 8 weeks (just have to be matured) and I just want to make sure I am not using anything forbidden (besides the obvious of no alcohol, no lunch meat) - any other no-no's?
TIA

Re: Is there a list of meds
I don't know. However, I am of the mind that I am not going to give anything up while TTC. You have 9 mos. to sacrifice all of that stuff when you actually ARE pregnant. What happens if it takes months and months...or years? Eating a bologna sandwich while TTC is not going to make you or break you, IMO!
Just my 2 cents...

Re: Is there a list of meds
Thanks for your feedback - I know that I am going to be uber-paranoid the entire pregnancy, (I am an RN in Women's Health - so see lots of PG women) - I just want to make sure that I am not doing something silly (that I never thought about) - esp like changing the kitty litter... KWIM?
Thanks though - I may indulge in all the feta/blue cheese I can eat this month before we TTC

Re: Is there a list of meds
I'm like you - I also have wondered about what I should be changing while TTC, but i agree with PP. I don't think there's anything I'm eating or taking as of now that would do enough harm for me to have to completely give it up. Once i"m pregnant however i KNOW that I'll be a maniac lol.

Re: Is there a list of meds
Mucinex and other decongestants supposedly dry up CM so I might avoid those but otherwise I'm not sure. Since many women don't even know they're pregnant until around 6 weeks, I think it's okay to act the way you normally do (unless you're a raging alcoholic or heroin addict)!

Re: Is there a list of meds
In regards to the Mucinex/decongestants mentioned above, I believe that regular mucinex (no letters after) is fine, and that it actually helps CM, but decongestants will dry you up.
Otherwise, I don't know too much about the meds, only what my dr. said to stop once I get a BFP, including advil and my allergy nasal spray.

Re: Is there a list of meds
Sorry, I have no idea. But does anyone have a list of drugs you should not take/food you should not eat while pregnant?
