is my ds too big for infant car seat???
He is 6m and 20 pds and can barely fit anymore. So what's next??? Rear facing convertable car seat? And if so does that mean I have to physically hold him in and out of car now instead of letting him sleep in carrier???!!! I feel very dumb in this area. Trying to figure out carrying purse and diaper bag etc and walking out to car holding him all at the same time in the cold. Educate a dummy please. Tia!

He's technically not too big until he exceeds the weight and/or height limits stated by the manufacturer. If he seems squished in the seat, or seems uncomfortable then yes, it may be time to think about switching him.
To answer your questions, yes, a rear facing convertable seat would be your next step. It is recommended that children remain rear facing until at least age two to minimize the force on a child in the event of an accident. Their feet touching the back seat, or their legs bent/crossed does NOT increase their chance of injury, just keep in mind for down the road when you get to that point.
As far as carrying everything, you will figure it out. Personally I bought a bigger wallet so I could just put that in the diaper bag if we were going to stores or a family members house. I didn't feel the need for two bags.
Also keep in mind, whether you switch him now or keep him in the carrier....thick winter coats and car seats don't mix. The puffyness of the coat will keep the harnesses from aligning correctly and you won't be able to get them as tight as they need to be (although you might think they are tight, without the coat there is a very good change they wouldnt be.)
Your little boy is growing up!!
