When did u switch from the infant car seat to the big one?

Ds is 7mo and still in his snugride. he has at least 4lbs to go but only about 1/2 inch to reach the limits. Should I switch him? we have the britax - i think the marathon. I'm so hesitant to do it b/c i love the convenience of snapping the car seat into the stroller but i want him to be safe! im also wondering for those who read my post yesterday about the car seat tipping if his size is contributing to this?

Are you all switching b/c they are at the limits or b/c its just time - more space/safer?

My DS is too big for the infant carseat now. He is too tall and too heavy now.

I'm going to have to do this soon - DD was only 18 lbs 11 ozs at her 9 month visit (can go up to 22 lbs) but she was 27.65 inches - She has her 10 month visit next week - so I don't know what she is at now - but her snugride says I think under 29 inches - so if she is 28 inches this month I will switch her out - I hate to do it as I love the convenience of her infant seat for naps and quick errands but it is time.

We did it when DD was 15-16 months old

But we had the Graco Safeseat

DD is over 10 months - she's 18 lbs 8 oz. and 22 inches.

We are going to switch her in 2 weeks, when we return from Santa Fe.

Now I leave her car seat in the car and carry her in and out of the house. If she is asleep, I snap the car seat into the stroller. If she is awake, I take her out of the carseat and put her in the stroller.

I really can't carry her IN the car seat anymore...

9 months.

He still fits in it, but it was really uncomfortable for all parties involved.

If he's not at the limits you don't have to switch. Its still safe to use, its just your preference. I had a Safeseat so I didn't switch until she was maybe 15 months but I almost never took it out of the car. It was too heavy to use as a carrier.

Today! DD is 6 & 1/2 months old but to heavy for me. She's over 17 lbs now and my back is killing me.

9 months. She just looked huge in it, and she's not a giant baby or anything. She is much cozier in her Britax now. But man, I miss the convenience of that infant seat

noahs 10 months and I still use it and it weighs so much I kill myself, but I am gonna try to hold out.

Hes over 18 lbs, so If I can make it 6-7 more weeks, I will just put the bigger seat in facing front, instead of putting it in backwards and changing it again in a few weeks ( if of course, he weighs over 20 lbs at that time)

I stopped carrying it at 9 months, then after that kept it in the car and used it until 1 year.

DC were both on the smaller side, but we switched them out before they hit the limits. I forget exactly when. They were just getting too heavy. If DS is 1/2 inch below the limit, I would switch him. I don't like pushing the limits too close. I know there is a buffer on the limits, but I still like staying below the published limits.

Keep the convertible seat rear-facing for as long as possible. 18 months or more, even. It's much safer, even if DC's legs are touching the back of the seat, or bent.

We just switched on Monday. It was supposed to be done last week but carseat guy cancelled. I held out because it was easier with the cold weather carrying him to daycare but he was so heavy.

But we HAD TO switch. We found out on the day of the appt for the inspection that DS was totally outgrown the carseat in weight and heigth.
