Is my company's policey as bad I think it is?
Maternity Leave falls under the FMLA – Family Medical Leave Act. An employee with more than 1 year of service
may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for the birth or adoption of a child. As this is an unpaid leave, the employee
may choose to use accumulated paid days in their Time Bank but this is not required.
During the leave time, if employee is in our Medical plan, Lifetime continues to pay the full monthly premium for
coverage, and employee continues to pay the employee contribution amount.

Mine too! You will also get some money from disability....our disability policy pays very little though.....

It may be a matter of semantics. There is maternity leave and there is disability. I'm not sure if your company is considering it the same thing or 2 separate leaves.
You are considered disabled from 6-8 weeks post partum. (more if you need to go out before birth). If you pay into a state disability policy, you should be entitled to pay.

we do get 60% (don't know what the cap is) pay 6-8 weeks post delivery as disability  .

at my last job they paid you for 4 to 6 depending on if you went natural or C-section
me not getting paid for 3 months is alot

We are also covered under the FMLA, however depending on the years of service we do get a portion of it paid. I believe since I have less than 5 years I get 6 weeks of the 12 paid. I need to look into it further, however I don't want to tell yet.

We aren't even covered under the FMLA b/c we do not have 50 employees, but they said I could still be out up to 12 weeks.
However, check with your short term disability insurance - if you have it - maternity might fall under that - mine does. And then I can use vacation time as well - I have 5 weeks, so I'm planning on using 3-4 of it, plus the 6 weeks of std for my leave. 3 months unpaid for me would KILL us.

My company allows us 12 weeks FMLA leave and we will get paid 100%of our salary for either 6 weeks (regular delivery or 8 weeks c-section). The remainder of the leave is unpaid and you may use accrued personal/vacation.
I handle the FMLA leave of absences and most companies do not pay salary continuation so the employee only gets the disability portion 170.00 during the 6-8 weeks, which is nothing!

i don't know what is going to happen- we aren't covered by FMLA either- there's only 2 of us!!!!

i don't know what is going to happen- we aren't covered by FMLA either- there's only 2 of us!!!!
My company as well, which is why I'm hoping to change jobs before TTC.

We are not covered under the FMLA so not only do I not get paid for any of my leave, but I am also not guaranteed my job back at all. I have a good relationship with my company, so I should be fine, but they did mail a letter to one employee here about 2 weeks after she had her baby telling her that her position was no longer available.

my company has the same policy. At my friends company they pay you for 3 months of maternity leave and if you want you can use the hours you have banked for another 3 months, if that is the amount of hours you have.

You actually have 2 things in there that the company is NOT required to give you:
They could require that you use your earned but unused PTO during the leave
They could require that you pay the full cost of your health insurance while you're out on leave.
So, it's not as bad as it COULD be...but, it still isn't a phenomenal offering, either.

Nope. The only thing they can tell me is that I can "re-apply" for my job and there are no guarantees. But like I said fortunately I have been here many years and have a good relationship and know they will work with me.
