Is it True? Stonybrook Hospital...
has private rooms?
If so, I am thrilled!! I previously lived in Texas and almost every hospital I had been to (for visiting family) had private rooms for the mother and baby. So when my SIL had her baby in Nassau County and she shared a room, I was pretty shocked.

yes they do..u share a bathroom with someone but the rooms are private..it def was nice and have to say even the food is good there you can order what you want from the cafeteria.

Yup It's True! Although I never made it off the delivery floor, I know it's the same one floor up!

They are also redoing stoney brook my doctor gave me there new brosure and they are adding a new wing with privaterooms with your own provate bathroom in it.. Im excited

yes they do and in sept or oct they are opening up a brand new section for all mother and baby I work in pediatrics I dont think that my unit moving but I have seen the plans for the new building and it looks impressive I have even spoken to the nurse manager of the nicu and she said it is going to be wonderful with private rooms and you can have the baby stay in your room rather than bringing it to the nursury at night

I was there 3 years ago and it was nice to have a private room...I hardly had a neighbor so I didn't have to share the bathroom much.
I would love it if the new wing opened for this September but I heard not until sometime 2009.

that is what I loved about my hospital here in Charlotte, ALL of the rooms are private with a private bathroom

As it stands now, all rooms for mommies are single-rooms, and you can have your baby with you 24/7. While you always have the option of bringing your baby to the nursery, u don't have to. You do, however, have to share a bathroom (but from my own experience, it was never really a problem!).
The new unit is said to be done before the end of this year....HOWEVER, SBMC being a STATE-facility, you never know. (Anyone who works for the state/gov should know what I mean). I know that the new NICU won't be up and running for a few more years....

My SIL worked in SB pediatric ICU for years as a NP...Wonder if you know each other !...Small world
