Is it ok to take a sibling to a Chuck E Cheese party and pay for him myself?

My almost 5yo is invited to a party at Chuck E Cheese. DH is unavailable to watch my younger child. I don't feel comfortable dropping off my 5yo at a hectic place like CEC.

Would it be ok to bring my younger child and pay for his food and tokens myself?

Should I tell the host that I plan to bring younger DS and pay for him myself?

I would tell the host, surprises are never fun.

I would think as long as you broached it that you are paying and insist I would think it was ok. But I wouldn't have him at the food table or eating the cake. I normally say no to this bc it puts the host in a position of saying yes. But chuckle cheese unlike a bounce place is open to everyone so it is not a private party. So it would be no different than if you mom came separately with your other child and they at end played on their own. At a bounce place etc they charge per head for any kid but I am pretty sure at cc they give coins and charge by who gets those and who eats. But CC it is open to the public so they charge differently than a bounce place which is open just to the party. Do you know the parents throwing the party so you could comfortably tell them. Could you go early and just pay for coins and food before it starts so it is clear you do not want them to pay.

It never hurts to ask the host mom. I've been asked this question numerous times and I always welcome siblings. I would rather have the kids' friends there celebrating as opposed to not being able to attend bc there is no childcare for the siblings. Ive never made the parents pay for the sibling. Just didn't feel right. An extra $25 is not going to make or break me. I've also asked to bring siblings and have never been denied and was never asked to pay.

Chuck E Cheese is one of the few places that this would totally not be an issue because it is open to the public with tons of other kids there. I have brought a sibling as have many other parents and it is never an issue. I just buy my own tokens for my extra kid. There is usually extra pizza and cake and the host insists on including the extra kid, but I would have no issue having the sibling skip the food and just play games or buy separate food depending on the time.

We have had parties at CEC when my son was little and many parents did this. Didn't bother me a bit since it's a public place, and they sat in their own booth and did their own thing.

I'd tell the host parent beforehand. She may have favors/gifts for each party guest and I know I'd feel bad if a kid's sibling was there and I didn't have anything for him/her.

I did this, I actually brought DD and her friend with us. The 2 of them played and I bought them separate tokens, pizza, drink, etc. and my son was able to enjoy the party. The hosts were perfectly fine with it (I'm not sure they even saw DD and her friend at all since they were sitting at a separate booth).

I wouldn't worry about it at all at Chuck E Cheese! It's very considerate of you to ask the parent, but I don't find that necessary.

Really? I wouldn't at all. Nor would I expect a favor for my uninvited child.

I wouldnt tell the parent bc then they may feel like they have to say"oh no just bring him" or give him a goodie bag. Just bring him, pay for him and thats it CC is a big palce with a lot of people no biggie.

I would give a heads up to the host and tell them you are paying for him/her and you didn't want older sibling to miss out because you didn't have childcare.

If the party is like any I have thrown, I'll have extra goodie bags, tokens, etc and would be happy that someone will get to use it. I would have no problem with siblings coming along but it would be nice to have a heads up.

I decided not to mention it to the host. I'm going to go with 2 kids and might leave early with the younger child. A classmate who lives down the block said she could always drive DS home when the party is over.

My almost 3yo would probably want a goody bag and might cry if he is the only one who doesn't get one. Want to avoid a scene.

Yes - I have been to many a birthday party where people have done this. I wouldn't expect your younger child to have cake though so maybe bring a special treat just in case, to avoid tears, but maybe they will offer you some if there is extra.

And I agree with the above posters who said don't tell the parents. They may feel obligated to provide a favor and they shouldn't have to.

I think it's fine - I would guess any family with kids would understand your predicament, but if would give the host a heads up first, and keep your other child away from the party events (cake, etc.).

There ended up being quite a few siblings at the party. One family brought 3 older siblings AND the nanny. All siblings sat at the bday table.

I tried to avoid the actual party with younger DS who was not invited but the mom told me not to be silly and handed my 2yo a cup of tokens. I handed her a $20 and insisted that she keep it since I was planning to buy 2yo DS tokens and food. She accepted at the end. She also gave 2yo a favor saying several guests were teenagers and didn't want the kiddie favor.
