Is it normal for a baby to try to do a sit-up?

well......not a real "sit up" per se, but the past week or so DS (4 months) has been straining to lean forward. When he is sitting in his car seat or laying on his back he is always lifting his head and upper body forward. At first I thought he was just wanting to sit up by himself but when we prop him up he then just bends his head further to his toes! I'm starting to worry something is wrong. Did anyone's baby do this??

Mine did and still does sometimes. He now sits up when we put him in a sitting position but when he's laying down he sometimes lifts his head as if he wants to get up...

My girls, 4 months, just started doing that as well. I can feel their stomach muscles working. Then when I put them in a sitting position propped they are happy.

Steven always does this as well. After he started doing this is also when he started bringing his knees to his chest and trying to grab his toes.

They're trying to get their stomach muscles nice and strong so they can sit up soon!

DD does the EXACT same thing. I pull her up and she proceeds to slump her head down towards her toes.
