Is it me....COACH- $$$$$$
I saw a nice bag that one of you ladies posted on new purchases and WOW-
It was $800!
I mean really, $800 for a Coach bag.
I saw another that was $1200.
They used to be so reasonable.
I mean for that I rather get a Gucci or LV.

Yeah I don't think they are even remotely worth that much. Then again I don't think ANY handbag is worth that much no matter what designer it is.

Actually I think alot of the bag designers have had price increases recently- gucci, lv, chanel and now coach. I spent more than I should have on my coach (not $800 or $1200 though), I admit it, but I liked the bag, had a pretty crappy year and this is my gift to myself.

I see what you are saying, but even if Gucci or LV bags were half the price of Coach, I still wouldn't buy them because they are not my style. I love Coach bags and if I could afford it I would definitely pay $800 on a really nice leather one

DH has a friend who works at Coach and she keeps telling him to tell me to choose a bag and she can get it at a HUGE discount but there is nothing there that I like.....I wish she worked for a different designer!
I dont think they are worth the $$$$ but to each their own.

Yes.
However, I went out the Coach outlets in Riverhead this weekend and the discount was awesome! I got a purse, matching wallet and 2 large wristlets for $300 (Happy Bday and Mother's Day to me! )

I agree. I worked for a division of Chanel and they have sample sales for employees. I got chanel bags for like 200+ . Promised never to pay retail again.

Coach only does that with their limited edition bags. Only a few are priced that high. Some higher.
Not for nothing, my Coach bags that are older are in better condition than my Gucci.

While I agree that they have goten insane w/ their pricing ..........
LV was once 'reasonable'
Gucci was once 'reasonable'
Chanel bags increase in price each year by like $250 - KWIM??
if people are still willing to pay the higher prices, why wouldn't the company charge them??

I am shocked at how expensive Coach bags are priced when they are new, especially considering how cheap you find them at the outlets eventually. I hadn't bought a coach bag since college but fell in love with one this winter because it was everything I wanted in a new work bag but still couldn't bring myself to spend the full price on Coach. Luckily a friend had a 25% off coupon and that make me feel OK with it.
I feel like a lot of "medium" or "lower" designers are getting really expensive lately! Even Juicy, etc have $250++ bags. Maybe I am just out of the loop with what things cost these days because I generally use the same bags for years and don't buy new often.
Generally I am less likely to pay full price for something I know will go on clearance later...

yeah um, I'd take that $800, buy a ticket to Florence and buy a leather bag for the remaining $200 from the vendors in the market outside the duomo.

Not for nothing, my Coach bags that are older are in better condition than my Gucci.
Totally true! I have a Gucci I purchased on my honeymoon 3.5 years ago and it's fraying and that bag costs me a few thousand. I have a Coach clutch purchased 6 years ago for a few hundred and it held up so much better.
