Is it mean to push your belly to make the baby react?
My mom was visiting me this weekend and I started to gently push and poke my belly to see if I could get the baby to move. She slapped my hand and told me to stop bothering/hurting him Am I really hurting/bothering him?

I am sure it is fine. Can't be any worse than some of the sonos I have had. Some of the techs are not gentle.

This is what I'm thinking too. Just last night I put my Cablevision remote on my belly to catch video of it moving and my sister was like oh, that's heavy. It was heavy and I started to think oh no, was that too heavy on her? I think it's ok to poke gently.

Re: Is it mean to push your belly to make the baby react?
My dr has pushed on my stomach during sonos to get the baby to move so I dont think it will hurt the baby. I do it every so often, she is in all kinds of comfy fluid so I doubt it hurts- probably just makes her to move to get comfy again.

They are very well protected in there, I would think that you would have to be pushing hard enough for it to hurt you before it would hurt the baby. I push all the time to get him to move, DH tells me to stop annoying him, I told him it's my job to annoy my kid

Not at all. I went for my anatomy scan today and the technician kept pounding on my belly to make the baby turn. She needed it to turn over so she could look at its heart and face. But the baby wouldn't budge. Great, already my baby is uncooperative!

It's not mean at all. Wait until you're in the 30's (Weeks) you're going to do a lot of poking and prodding to get that kid to move out of certain areas.
An Ice pack or a cold drink works well too

Re: Is it mean to push your belly to make the baby react?
Hope not because I do it a lot too. I hadn't really thought I would be bugging her much until my appointment yesterday. As soon as the heart monitor went on my belly she started kicking a ton right where the monitor was. I commented that she did the same thing the last time around and the dr. said she didn't like it! Even if it bugs her, I don't think I can help it. I love pushing and feeling her push back!

I do it too. But then do feel bad about it. I really don't think it hurts them. Theres a lot of padding surrounding them.

Your not hurting the baby, and I don't know if it's mean but I know I do it lol . It reassures me that he's doing ok in there.
