Is it just me *vent*
I am so sick of being invited to product parties. Over the last year I have been invited to 5 Pampered Chef parties, gone to one and purchased from all, and four of the parties were between the same two people, and all 5 the same consultant. I've spent a pretty penny because, IMO, the stuff is on the high end. I'd rather go the Home Goods and find the same thing for a much better price.
In the last three weeks, it's been two Origami Owl parties which I did not go to either or purchase anything because honestly it's not really my thing. I'm the kind of person that feels guilty if I don't support the person by buying something, and I least I use the PC stuff I get, but I'm not going to buy jewelry I won't wear...have to draw the line somewhere.
My personal favorite was being invited to a "I'm leaving his sorry ass" party that turned out to be a sex toy party her sister was hosting...and to top it all off she got back together with his "sorry ass".
I understand people need to make a living, and maybe I'm just being a crab ass, but I'm starting to dread these invitations in the mail.

Re: Is it just me *vent*
I never go to them. lol. If I go, then I am without a doubt obligated to buy SOMETHING, and with being a SAHM without that extra income, I just don't feel comfortable spending extra money on things I don't need. When I was single I went and still made sure I only got one or two reasonably priced things. I feel like they can get VERY expensive. I hate when friends show me their stuff because then I want to help them out, but my goodness is it pricey! What's worse is when Co-workers would do it to me. Err, we work together, you know what our our paychecks are about (hence why you're trying to make extra money on the side), do you honestly think I have it to give to you? lmao
I don't think you're being crabby about it, just realistic in what you can and cannot be spending. Just say you can't make it. Personally, I wouldn't go if I knew I could not buy at least one thing while there.

I am SO with you!!! You always feel obligated to buy them and sometimes people are just so brainwashed by this "amazing business" that they sound like robots! lol. I tried selling Arbonne for a little while but all of those people annoyed me and I didn't want to harass my friends anymore! Plus I didn't think the stuff was THAT great in quality to justify how much it was. I had 2 rings from Lia Sophia that turned my finger green! And a bracelet that broke. I also can't stand when people call it "owning their own business" Umm no you are selling products in a pyramid scheme!

I never buy anything anymore. It's too expensive for crap I don't use. I usually go and just hang out.

I dont mind the actual in person parties- they are a good excuse to get together with friends.
What really annoys me is the online parties for these things. So I get no wine, no snacks, no company but I get to buy the overpriced items? Yea, no thanks!

You're not alone. I cannot stand them. I have a friend that has a different thing she's selling like every few months...from scentsy to pampered chef to 31 bags. I didn't really mind scentsy (bought some christmas gifts) but the others kill me. I won't go anymore, I just don't have the $$ to support it.

I hate them so I don't go but then I feel like a jerk for it.
There's always pressure to go and buy stuff that you may not want even when the hostess does not pressure you.
I understand that a lot of people want a "side business" or extra income and with that, if I see something I really like, I can usually buy it off the website so they get their commission and I don't have to go watch demos at a party.
