Is it incredibly tacky to...
hand someone a thank you note?
My cousin came to my daughter's very casual first birthday party. She just moved in with her fiance and I don't have their new address.
I am having dinner with her tonight. Can I just give her the thank you- or should I mail it?

Honestly, I don't know if it's tacky or not, but it wouldn't matter to me if I received it in the mail or hand delivered.

I'd call verbally thank her again tonight, and maybe call another family member to find out her new address. JMO, but if someone handed me a thank you note, I might feel awkward.

I understand not handing them out from an ettiquette standpoint but why is it awkward?
Personally, I think it's fine to just give it to her since you will see her tonight.
