No need to understand it...but it's just another way to get a fancy gift out of DH!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you. I have refrained from answering these comments, well, b/c it was not the point of the post. I did not ask people if they thought I should get a push present, nor did I ask their opinions of push presents in general.

DH brought it up, and after what we went through with my last PG honestly I do not see the harm in it. For the record, I get him a Daddy gift as well. This time I am getting him tickets to the season opener at Citi field.Chat Icon

Thanks DH is a huge fan. I know he wants to buy a brick (if they are still doing that) and his whole family is going in on that.

Since we live a few hours away, we don't get to go that often. I probably went to my last game at Shea on Saturday. Chat Icon I think we got our money's worth though since it went 14 innings. Too bad they lost. I really hope we can take Chat Icon to a game next year although I don't think DH is too fond of the idea.

I tried to convince my husband that it's a tradition that woman who give birth get a "Maternity" ring as a universal sign of motherhood. He almost believed me until some jerk hole told him that what I was asking for did not exist but was my way of getting an eternity band!!!Chat Icon

Very nice! Do you need to know that my company gets a discount at Tiffany & Co?

I think it's 15%...

Let me know if he picks up on the hints & you need me to call it in!

i had never heard of the push present until i came here but after googling it and seeing that it was in fact a real thing in some places i sent the links to the articles to dh...

along with it a note that said i will gladly accept carats in jewelry or cylinders in an engine.. (we need a new car badly.. lol)

i brought him a video camera for father's day but i will be buying him a "wow you deserve this after putting up with me and all of my hormonal ups and downs and spazz outs, and ridiculous request and emotional break downs that i've had over the past 10 months" present.

And to the OP: don't take offense, what I said wasn't directed towards you, it was my take on the subject. I said my "present" is going to be two healthy babies.

I hope you get your ring.Chat Icon

Yeah the name does suck, Push Present, i actually didn’t know it was called that until recently also. But it has been tradition in my family that the wife receives some jewelry representing the baby...my sisters all have the gold/diamond child charms. I think that woman are just so excited to have the baby that they want to show the world they are mothers and jewelry sometimes helps do that!...and well they did hold the child for 9 months!!! i want the tiffany mother necklace.

Re: Is it bad that I already know what I want my push present to be?

The ring is beautiful. I hope you enjoy it!

That being said, I really don't care what people think of the idea of getting a gift after having a baby. I want one. I got one. It is being shipped at the moment. It is nobody's damn business if my husband wants to buy a gift for me after 9 months of carrying a child. My body has been through a lot and frankly I deserve it. I am doubly blessed with a healthy child and a thoughtful husband.

But understand this, my husband will be receiving a gift as well. It is HIS child, with HIS name and HE should be celebrated as a father. If I am to receive a gift as I push, he can receive a gift to "catch." HE deserves something too.

If a person doesn't like the name "push present" too bad - they will get over it.

If I even mentioned the words "push present" to my husband he would laugh his azzz off at me!

Not that I would ever....my push present is my baby...

I agree with you.....a healthy baby is present enough for me!

Completely agreed. What's the need to spend an exorbitant amount of money on a present for yourself after you've just received the greatest gift possible? Chat Icon I'd much rather put that money in a college fund...

Re: Is it bad that I already know what I want my push present to be?

Nope!! I already told DH I want a Nikon D40, and I'm only 9 weeks. Though I can't call it a push present, because DH thinks that is ridiculious. We have both wanted this camera for awhile, and I figured having a baby was the best time to get one.
