Is it a problem if DD takes sips of water?

Whenever DH and I drink our water bottles she flips out until we give her some... its really funny... water is okay for her to drink at this point, right?

My DD does the same thing. She is 4mths 3wks old. And she is fascinated by our cups.

So I am taking advantage of the opportunity. I went out and bought a sippy cup for her (although it says for 6mths)...she loves it. So I put a few sips of water in her cup and she drinks from it like a pro. I am happy because I am hoping this will help make a smooth full transition to cup when the time comes since she will already be use to it from taking sips of water from it from time to time.

BTW, my ped said there is no real need to give her water now. But she said an ounce or two from time to time wont hurt either to get her use to the taste.

The only reason why ped said there is no real reason to give water now is because it has 0 calories and she said DD needs calories for growth.

As long as its just sips, that will be fine -- you just don't want it to replace nutrition packed fomula/BM.

I had asked my ped if it was okay to give DS some water, he said not to becausue you don't want him to fill up on water and eat less formula which has the nutrients he needs.

I'm sure a few sips can't hurt.
