Is CD 10 too early to start using OPK's?
Today is CD 10 for me and I was going to start using the OPK's today. Last month I started on CD 10 and used them for 14 days and NEVER got a . I was also using FMU which, from this board, they say is not the best to use.
So I was going to hold it for 4 hours and test everyday when I get home from work around 5:15.
Is today too early to start? According to MMC, I am supposed to O on CD 17.

Re: Is CD 10 too early to start using OPK's?
For my cycle, it could be too late (last cycle I O'd on CD 11).
With an O date of CD 17, I would think that CD 10 is a good time to start with OPKs, since your O date can vary by a day or two from month to month.
I've also heard that some times your LH surge can be short, like 12 hours or so. If that's the case, and you're testing every 24 hours, it is possible that you miss the surge but still actually do O.
When I explained that to DH he and and said that this TTC thing is one crazy messed up science experiment!

I don't think so, but you may need to get the 20 pack in that case if you will supposedly O on CD17.
I didn't detect O last month during my usual fertile time, so I actually started the OPKs yesterday on CD6.

hahaha...mine doesn't get it either. He thinks that if you BD then you make a baby. I told him that it wasn't as easy as that and that there are only 5 days in the entire month that I can get PG and that we HAVE to BD every other day. lolol

No, it's not, but you may run out if you O later than you think. (The OPKs I use only include seven test strips). And for some people, its hard to see negative tests. As long as you know it won't bum you out, I'd stock up and start early.

I start on CD10, even though I don't typically O until at least CD20. I'm always afraid I'm going to magically move up one month and I'll miss it. It's expensive and annoying, but at least I know I'm not missing it.

I used an OPK from the first day of my last period through an entire month! My cycles are obviously really long and I didn't want to miss it! CD 10 sounds like a good time to start!

I agree...this is what I do too. I dont O until like CD 21 or even CD 23...but I still start testing at CD10 just in case.
