Is anyone not finding out the sex??

We were going to find out the sex, but now we don't want to. When I told my mom she gave me a gilt trip. She made me feel bad for not finding out. My husband and I are happy with this decision.

Is there anyone else not finding out and their families are upset about it?

We aren't finding out and our families are supportive.

Its one of the biggest surprises of your life why not let it be a surprise! It makes it more exciting IMO.

Ultimately its what you are your husband decide. How can your mom give you a guilt trip? what is she upset about bc she wants to know?

I found out, but I just think it is upsetting that anyone would even consider giving you a hard time about your decision to keep it a surprise. That sounds really insensitive and pushy to me. Sorry to hear it. Stick to your guns though! Chat Icon

My mom thinks since we have the technology to find out, we should find out so we can know how to prepare better. I feel like will have to prepare the same way if it is girl or a boy. We have an 11 month old son now and we knew the sex with him. This may be our last child and the last chance to have a true surprise.

Re: Is anyone not finding out the sex??

Were not, we didn't find out the sex with our first baby and it was so exciting!!

I had to hear people tell me I was crazy, and how was I going to set up the baby room now and what about clothes? You don't need to set up the baby room right away if the baby will be sleeping in your room the first couple of months anyway, and also I went and got some clothes for both sexes and just returned the ones I didn't need. Wasn't hard at all.

we are painting the room a nice green. After the baby is born if its a girl I am going to add pink border and if its a boy blue border.

I agree with you, I don't think there can be a bigger surprise! We decided not to find out and we are so EXCITED as the weeks go by and we get closer to meeting our baby!

I am so sorry that your mom is giving you a guilt trip. How very unfair!

We have so little surprises in this world. I think it is nice to let this be one real surprise.

DH & I are having debates on this I say I want to wait (it does not matter to me as long as it is healthy and happy) DH on the other hand has been busting my chops saying he wants to really know... so we shall see who winsChat Icon

Re: Is anyone not finding out the sex??

Didn't know for our first and won't know for our second. More fun for us that way! I do understand it may be easier for planning purpose but there is nothing like finding out at birth!

I can't believe people give you a hard time about this decision! We found out...but it was a personal choice! In fact, most of my family members said they didn't want to know!

Re: Is anyone not finding out the sex??

we didn't fond out and told everyone from the beginning that we were not finding out. My mil really wanted to know. She even kept quizzing me like she thought I found out and was just not telling anyone. But we don't know. Dh tried to peak every chance he got but he couldn't figure it out. So on Jan 2nd after months of speculation we will finally find out if it is a boy or girl. I am so glad we waited because it has really added to the excitement.

Re: Is anyone not finding out the sex??

I am not finding out either. We did not know for the first one. The second one we found out and it was helpful. but this time I was not sure I wanted to know and either did DH. SO we said lets let it be a surprise. Someone told me that there are not to many surprizes in life and that helped solidify my decision. Also look at the expecting list. your not alone.

i said i would want to wait but now that i'm pregnant it drives me crazy to not know. I think about it everyday...is it a boy or a girl???? that's why we decided to find out (or will be shortly). My dh would have waited. I'm not doing it to be better prepared with the room or clothing...it is all a matter of not having to think about it. Plus, i feel like it is a surprise no matter when you find out.

You should do what YOU and your DH feel comfortable. forget what everyone else saysChat Icon

Re: Is anyone not finding out the sex??

We are not finding out. Personally to me it's such a great surprise and I feel that although the technology is out there I think it's better to guess for 9-10 months. Plus I don't care what anyone who finds out says, there is nothing like finding out that day that the baby is born. It just adds to the anticipation. Our families and friends are very supportive. If people ask me why we aren't finding out I tell them we will find out when the baby is born.

Re: Is anyone not finding out the sex??

I am not finding out the sex because 1. I already have a boy and a girl. 2. Now that I find out that we are having twins I really want it to be a surprise. With my other children I found out the sex because I wanted to be prepared...

Re: Is anyone not finding out the sex??

We are not finding out and our color scheme for now is sage and brown, once the baby comes we'll and the blues and pinks to the color scheme. I never liked the real "pinky" bedrooms or clothing for girls anyway (can we say amoxicillian?) and everything totally blue would make me ill. I saw an adorable onsie that was white with a yellow duck and a bath set I saw advertised at Wallmart that I love that I think had a puppy or something on it - I have it in another room saved.

My MIL is the only one up our butts about not finding out, but I think she's realized she's losing the battle. IMO, this is a decision only the BABY's parent's can make, grandparent's. I don't really get why anyone over 50 would even care - when they had their kids, the technology wasn't even there to know one way or another. My MIL said she wants to know so she can shop, I told DH, if she wants to shop she can buy the baby a dresser in Mahogony to go with the crib my p's are getting the baby. I don't need the grandparent's to "invest" in onsies in pink or blue! That's rediculous!!!!

Now for my rant on this: IMO - It is so much more exciting in my mind to wait... everyone I know who waited said it was the best decision they made. When you go through all the labor and they announce "it's a _____" it's just all worth it. I'm thrilled about that moment to come, wouldn't want to ruin it. Besides, if it's the "wrong" sex - do you send it back????? Who cares about the gender as long as it's healthy. However it all comes down to what YOU and your DH are comfortable with. It's a personal decision that no one else should influence.
