Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
Spin-off to the Uppa Baby G Luxe post - for those that have a regular stroller, did you also get an umbrella stroller..and if so, for what reasons?

Re: Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
We don't have one and don't see the need. We have two kids, oldest is 3. We have a City Mini single and double, we switch which we use depending on what we're doing. The City Mini is fairly light and easy to open/close, so I don't know what the point of an umbrella stroller would be for us.

Same here. We have the same strollers and DD is 3. Never needed an umbrella stroller. The city mini is light enough cans easy enough to manage.

Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
Yes. I put DS in ours when we go to the doctor or Ducks games. It folds up easily and doesn't take up a huge amount of space.

Re: Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
I have an Inglesina Zippy and use it from 6 months on and have never felt the need for an umbrella stroller. It folds with one had and closes just like an umbrella stroller. It doesn't take up much room in the trunk and stands upright independently. It's also light weight enough and you can wheel it around like a golf club bag. It's my favorite baby item.

I have one but DD is 2 and I've never used it, so I don't think it's necessary.

Re: Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
IMO, no. We have the UppaBaby Cruz and City Select double. The Cruz is light enough and easy enough to use. For us, we see no reason to spend additional money or take up storage space in the house and/or car. I love the Cruz.
Maybe I'd feel differently if the City Select was our only stroller because I find it heavier and more clunky. I guess it depends on what you have for your primary stroller.

I have one but I hate it. It's crappy, so low to the ground and when she wants to be a pest she plants her feet on the ground so I can't go

This is good to hear - we have the Cruz and love it so far, but keep hearing that we need an umbrella stroller. This is good to hear - maybe we'll stick to this for now and in the future if anything can get one.

Re: Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
Depends in your lifestyle. Dd is almost 2 and we just got the gluxe on sale. We also have the b-agile and a big peg perego. We go into the city often and felt we needed something more compact when open and easier to carry on/off the railroad and up/down the stairs when closed. We also wanted something cushy and well-made enough that dd can spend the whole day in (as opposed to the $15 umbrella strollers). So far, very happy with our decision. After 2 outings in 2 weeks since getting it, I feel it's already worth it.

Re: Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
I have a jogging stroller and an umbrella stroller. The umbrella stroller is way easier to bring out, lighter, and easier to set up/ fold.

Yes so necessary as child gets older and isn't a baby-baby. It's the only one I use. I have the uppa baby g-lite.

Re: Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
No, def not necessary. We have the City Mini and an umbrella and I prefer the City Mini. The only time we use the umbrella is when DS chooses the other stroller. But no, it's def not necessary to have multiple strollers.

Agreed. DS was NOT keen on the stroller. He wanted to walk. But it helped having one. It was good to have a second one in the other car in case we drove a different car. It lugged our stuff everywhere.

Is an umbrella stroller necessary?
loved mine .. still in the garage. She hated strollers once she could walk (at 1) so this was an easy quick way for her to rest when tired or sleep as well as super simple in travel. I didn't care if it got dirty, lost, or whatever. Ironically, it's always survived! But after my first mega travel unit and then my stupidly expensive jogger whatever.. i realized I'm not living for the next best, just going for good enough.
