Is an all day outing a good idea or am I crazy??

My friends are planning an all day outing the the 7 lakes upstate. It would be an early 7am start time to get there. Then hang all day there and leave in the evening. I am crazy to attempt this with a 5 month old?

We can bring the pack n play for her. But I'm nervous she won't sleep really n just be a cranky monster. When did all day trips start for you and your LOs?

No not crazy at all! Will she nap in the stroller?
I always said worse come to worse I could take a quick walk with them till they fell asleep.

We took my DS anywhere and everywhere. But my DS would sleep anywhere - stroller, PnP, my lap, the floor a piece of concrete (if I let him). My DS is better behaved outside of my house so I would go but you know your DD better. If she could sleep other places and be good in the car then I say yes. If the day will be miserible then don't go.

if she sleeps well in her stroller i think you will be fine
We are taking our 4 months old to Massachusetts for the day on saturday - im hoping it goes well!

Not crazy!

eta: we did Disney with our 6 month old. Every day was an all day outing and she did great! A little crankiness here and there but nothing too earth-shattering.

I would try it! Worse that can happen is she's a crabby monster like you said, but it's only one day.

I did a similar trip with DD when she was 8 months. She was a wreck in the car and only fell asleep 5 minutes before we got there. She slept for a while and then was happy all day. Going home that night, she slept a bit and then cried for a while again before falling back to sleep. The car ride wasn't fun but we still had a great day with friends.
