IPODs...I just dont get it
Speaking of feeling old (a topic on another post) I just dont get the need for IPODs, unless you are at the gym....or if you want to plug into the computer to hear your music,(lol-can you even do that?Im so clueless) are they the modern day "mixed-tape"? I dont get it. God I must sound so dumb...and old... lol.can someone explain?!

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
you can take all of your music and load it onto the ipod so it's all in one place
you don't need to enter any CD's or switch anything - it's a compact unit that can store your entire collection

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
It's just a way to have all your music with you at all times -- at the gym, on your commute, in the car, on a plane. Some people have no need for them. I'm not one of those people, though.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
okay, let's see how I can explain it..
I have my favorite songs from my cd collection on my ipod.. I have playlists categorized on my ipod, I can listen to it at home (I can hook it up onto my sound system at home and in the car and office) I also have my kids music in their own folder so if we're on the car, they can listen to their music. I also have videos on my ipod which is great not for me but for my son if we're somewhere and he is getting antzy, I just hand him over the ipod and he can watch Cars or the incredibles or power rangers or something.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
I have ALL of my music on my iPod and I use it mostly in my car. Instead of keeping a few CDs in the car, I bring my iPod and have everything I might want at my fingertips. I also download podcasts, so I can listen to radio shows I like when I want, instead of just if I happen to catch them. It's certainly not a necessity, but it is very convenient. DH has an iPod shuffle that he uses when he goes jogging.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
i just love having all my music i want to hear in one play--no fumbling for CDs while driving---organized playlists for my different moods and such---and i can listen to it while relaxing at home or thru a transmitter on my car stereo.

Not only do I not get IPODS but I never understood buying CD's. Don't get me wrong, I have a few, maybe 10. But I can't tell you the last time I bought one.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
I'm sure it's the same as those that used to carry around their headsets and CD players....all consolidated into one.
I use mine CONSTANTLY: - communting to/from work - drives (in the car) - at the gym - at work - while working at home

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
I love my Ipod, I didn't get it at first but, now I can't live without it.
It's great for commuting - you get to listen to songs you like, only songs you like, and drown out those who feel that everyone on the train wants to hear their life story.
It's great for travelling - as opposed to bringing a discman and a million discs, it's compact and lightweight.
You can also hook it up to your stereo and in your car. It's having all of your music in one little package.
I also use it for running. I don't usually use it at the gym because I watch tv there (so I just use the headphones).

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
I don't have an IPOD, and I would never get one, but I have another MP3 player. I use it on a plane and on my commute to work sometimes. One thing I don't like is putting music on it. I cannot keep ALL my music on it b/c there isn't enough space. I have close to 1000 CDs and many live sets and there is no way to keep all that on the size MP3 player I have; getting one to fit everything seems like a lot of money for me. So I settle for putting on and taking music off, which is time consuming. I like my CD collection, b/c I think Mp3s sound isn't the best. If I could have it my way I would still have the 45 or 33 popular. IMO analog has the best sound, you lose a lot when it is transferred to digital.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
I used to have one and it broke after 14 months, therefore I personall think Ipods are a piece of disposible crap and I wouldn't buy another one, nor would I buy another apple product. We have a Zen and its sooo much better...
I drive to work, so I would only use it in the car, but to be honest, I don't need one really.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
When I interned I loaded every single piece of music I had on mine so I would have it all together and I plugged it into my car (had a special hook up for it put in so it played thru the radio) listened to it on the train and while running around NYC doing all my "intern" responsibilities. It's really great for public transportation, the gym, if you walk a lot, etc. That's why I got mine, but now that I'm not in the city, I only really use mine when working out or running.

We use it in the car - beats carrying cd's with us everwhere we go. We upload the music to the IPod and take it with us.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
I would have no use for one either. I bought one for my boyfriend for Christmas because his work van only has a radio and tape deck. He wants to be able to listen to music of his choice since he drives around all day long.

Re: IPODs...I just dont get it
You don't have to lug CDs (or mix tapes ) around with you - You don't have to buy the entire album, ONLY the songs you want, you always have your entire music collection at your fingertips no matter where you go -
I feel like it's the 2nd cell phone, WHAT did I ever do w/o it ???
