Introducing soft solids
DD is 10 months and I've been very slow at introducing food. She eat a variety of food bug we're still on puree except banana and avocado which I just mush up. What soft food can I start her on to transition from purees or should I thicken up the purees first. I make my own food so I don't even know what stage 2 and 3 foods look like.

Introducing soft solids
At 10 months, DS was eating table food. I would probably start to introduce things like cheerios, puffs, meatballs, small pieces of pasta (my DS never liked pastina so I just cut up ziti into small pieces), mashed potatoes, etc.

Introducing soft solids
My DD is 10 months also and we are just starting to introduce solids.. we have had success with pastina.. we mix it into a veggie purée. We also have given her cheese eggs and mashed potatoes. I tried puffs but she didn't like them and they made me nervous that she was going to choke

Introducing soft solids
All of my kids were off of jars by 9-10 months. Besides the usual puffs & cheerios, I would also cut up stuff real small- meatballs, pasta, sweet potatoes, green beans, all types of fruit, cheese, ground beef/chicken/or turkey, pieces of bagel or bread, shredded chicken. My kids ate everything. My youngest is now 6 months old. She is on purees but I can already see that she wants more. Will probably start regular food after the holidays.

Introducing soft solids
At that age dd ate whatever was on our plates in tiny pieces. She loved feeding herself so I would just put a bunch on her tray and let her eat.

Re: Introducing soft solids
My kids were late with teeth so I did the puréed and soft foods a lot longer.
They loved Beans Chili (not spicy) Ground meat dishes like Shepards pie, meatballs, meat sauce, meatloaf Lots of pastas and ravioli, tortellini, etc Mac and cheese Lentils (I used these to thicken up purees to start) Split pea soup Veggie and bean soup Fish Yogurt Rice - mixed with veggies Quinoa Oatmeal (not baby kind)
The baby may take a bit not to gag on the change in consistency. Just keep trying. I added the lentils and cooked carrots chopped small to purees and they caught on after a few days.

Re: Introducing soft solids
DD is almost 8 months and eats lots of different foods- bread, muffin, pancakes, cut up pasta, pieces of meat, soft cheeses, roasted potatoes- she pretty much has a bite of everything I eat.

Just go for it. I know it seems scary, but you'll be surprised. At 10 months, both of my kids were eating everything.

Introducing soft solids
How could they eat that stuff? They don't have real teeth. DS is 11 months and has the 2 front bottom teeth and the top 2 are coming in. How can he "chew" food?

Gums are sufficient enough for chewing. My daughter was eating all kinds of table food including steak and chicken months before getting teeth.

DD only has 4 teeth (2 until very recently) and eats everything under the sun. They can gum it.

My DS literally had no teeth until his first birthday and was eating table foods at 8-9 months. They mash it around with their gums. They're getting little tiny pieces. Most of the mechanical digestion is done before they put it in their mouths.

My kids were late with teeth. I really mashed things up. Soft pasta etc.
You remind me of a lady at daycare who told me like 190 times "my granddaughter ate a corned beef on rye sandwich with no teeth"
Lol. I never tried that but that was her words of wisdom.
I think teeth are mainly for biting/tearing. Molars are needed for steaks/chicken but ground meats are already mashed. The mashing of these soft foods can be done by gums. The child just has to figure out how to move food from front to back of mouth and how many times to mash before swallowing. I think they get it pretty quickly.

DD has only her bottom two teeth, but she chews like a champ. The teeth are basically right there under the gums.

Introducing soft solids
By 8m I introduce "real" food. Started with pancakes and soft things like that then meatballs/meatloaf and small bits of chicken. Now at 9m he eats most things and I am no longer pureeing his food

Kids don't get molars til very late... 2? Mine were off puréed food by 12 months. Shred food and let them go at it! We shred our diet... chicken, fish, veg.
