Intro - and a question!!

I can't believe I'm officially joining this board! EEK! I was a 2010 LIW bride, and just got my BFP on Monday. DH and I are going to be first-time parents! It's super surreal and I'm reeeeeally nervous... but def looking forward to all the support from this board

According to all the websites and my LMP, I'm about 5 weeks, but still have to wait another 3 weeks until my first dr. appt! It's so crazy having this exciting secret...


So here's my first question:

How long did you wait to tell and who did you tell?!

Obviously with Easter coming up on Sunday, it seems like a good choice but to me it's still WAY too early. Then on the second weekend in April it's my nephew's first birthday party but I really don't think that's an appropriate setting to share the news, plus we still won't have seen the dr yet... what do you ladies think!?

I told my parents, siblings, FIL and BIL a week after we found out (around 6 weeks).

I told a handful of friends between 9-10 weeks

I finally announced it around 13-14 weeks to extended family.

I'll put something on FB next week after our 20 week anatomy scan (can't wait!!).

We waited until we heard the heartbeat to tell my inlaws at about 8 weeks and then another two weeks to tell my parents (only because we waited until we traveled out of state to visit my parents so I could tell them face to face.)

I told a few close friends immediately.

I told work fairly early too... I had no concerns about telling my boss so I felt safe doing so.

We waited until after the NT scan results to share the news publicly. I think I was 14 weeks by the time we told everyone.

Friends we gradually told around 12 weeks
Told work around 12 weeks

We waited until we saw the heartbeat and told our parents and siblings the rest of my family and friends found out at 14 weeks

I told my mom & brothers at 13 weeks, my in-laws at 15 weeks, and friends at scattered times (many people still don't know if I haven't seen or talked to them).

I'm a 2010 bride too We told my parents right away. DH and I agreed t it was a good idea so I had them to talk to and he knew I was bursting!! So we told them in a real special way. Rest of immediate fam we waited until about 10wks this way we had a cute pic to add to our special delivery of the news. It was crazy and exciting keeping such an amazing secret. Rest of fam, friends..just about 12wks. Now, it's out. We are 14w4d (2nd trimester)

DH and I found out at 4 weeks, had our first appt at 6 weeks. We told my mom at 6 weeks, his mom at 8 weeks, my bosses at 6 weeks for work reasons, and our friends at 14 weeks after getting NT scan results and getting into the second trimester. Both DH and I told 1 or 2 friends in between this time just for support and stuff.

We'll come out on FB after the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I'm current 16w.

We told immediate family about a week after finding out.
We told close friends between12-14weeks

CONGRATS!!!! Another 2010 bride...so exciting!

We told my parents the day after we took 4 tests LOL! My dad is a business rep for the union I'm in and my mom works for my doctors so I needed their help with some stuff before my doctor appointment...I was only 3 weeks.

My older sister I told even before DH but she's an OB and I didn't know what to do. My younger sister and inlaws I told at 6 weeks but it was after Sandy and I had some medical problems in and out of the hospital from dehydration. We told SIL and BIL at 7 weeks.

Everyone else we started telling after 12 weeks, FB public at 14 weeks. LO was looking good so we weren't too worried about it.

i told my parents and siblings around 6 weeks. they all knew i was seeing a RE so they knew the whole process. i told my close friends and other family members at around 8-9 weeks and then everyone at 12 weeks.

it is such a personal decision. i guess whenever your heart feels right to tell, tell. you will have a huge support team beside you.

With this pregnancy, I told my mom as soon i got my BFP!!! We told my in-laws and siblings at 6 weeks. We are just starting to tell friends now at 9 weeks.

I wont tell work until 12 weeks but it may be hard b/c i am showing already since this is #3.

Our parents and siblings knew as soon as we got our BFP(we went through infertility treatments so they knew everything we were doing step-by-step so it would have been odd if we didn't tell them the outcome that day) lol
I'm 11w and starting to tell friends and plan on telling family next week after my dr's appointment.
This is all personal and i will not be putting it on Facebook until i'm at least 20 weeks....the people who i want to know will already know or i already told.

This time we waited till we saw the heartbeat to tell our parents and only told one friend each the day we got bfp....and the world at 20 weeksbut we went thru previous losses .....

Last time, we told family only at 8 weeks (after doc appt). Then, everyone else at 12. We will do the same this time (pending all is well )

We told our family members as soon as we found out 5-6 weeks.

Told extended family at 12 weeks.

Told friends at 20 weeks.

We planned to wait till after our first appointment at 8 weeks, but we couldn't hold out and told them a week after finding out! We told my mom, dad, brother and SIL over the phone, (they live OOS) then the next day we told him mom, step dad, brother and SIL in person! WE also called his dad sometime around then as well.... Other tan that we kept it a secret till after our 8 week appointment. Except for one exception, the day before my first appointment we went to the bar with friends and they tell us they are expecting and that they are due the same day as me....so I had to tell them! haha!

We told our parents, immediate family, and closest friends at 8 weeks. I would've waited longer but it was Christmas and DH really wanted to share.

I left it up to my mom to share with other family and family friends.

I told work a bit after the 15 week mark.

I posted on FB after the anatomy scan, when I was almost 21 weeks.

It really does seen like such a personal decision. I have no idea what we're going to do yet! DH travels for work so he hasn't even been home with me for a full 24 hours since we found out I kind of just want to keep it to ourselves for now, but we'll see :)

I keep re-reading everyone's responses to see if it encourages me one way or the other. But nothing so far. Can't wait until our first appointment... I'm sure I'll think of a ton of questions before that comes!

We told our parents right away. The way I see it, if god forbid something happened I would want them to know. Anyone we have told so far would be people that I would want to be there for us if something went wrong. I also am very close with my mom and couldn't wait to tell her!

im only 8 weeks but we told our parents and siblings last week when we closed on our first home

we are telling my aunts and cousins at easter dinner

we also told a few close friends

we plan on waiting until 12 weeks to spread to the word to most friends and DH's family

Congrats! Im a 2011 LIW bride. Just found out on 3/27. we told our parents but not anyone else including siblings. Want to wait until 12 weeks to tell them and around 15-16 weeks until I tell friends and other fam.

The first time around we waited until 14 weeks. I didn't tell work until 20 weeks.

This time around at 8 weeks because we saw my parents for Easter (day before our first sono). This time around I'll have to tell work around 12 weeks.

With DS we waited until after my first gyno appt (8 weeks) to tell my parents, in laws and our siblings. I had told a friend of mine when I was 5 weeks. Other than that I waited until after 12 weeks to share the news.

I'm anxious for the first trimester to be over with so I can talk about it more openly now! Only 1 friend knows now (and DH of course). Praying everything goes well and if so, I am waiting until Mother's Day to tell my mom and mother in law (the others will be there too so that's when they'll find out). I'll be 10 weeks or so by then.
