Re: Interviewing a potential boss
Yes! When my boss got promoted to a VP role he had to help interview and find his replacement. He asked me to sit in on the interviews since I'd be reporting to this person.
We had a few people who would be reporting to the new hire sit in actually.
What did you want to know?

I never met with any of them one on one- thank God lol- but I would read over their resume beforehand and ask them about their current position, their last few positions. Ask what their role was on a day to day basis, how many direct reports they had.
I would then talk about YOUR role, what your day to day tasks are and how you interact with your current boss, to kind of give them a feel for the dynamic the current boss has with his/her reports.

Interviewing a potential boss
I have multiple times. What I asked was their work style, what they expected from the department, do they feel anything needs to be changed withe the direction of the department. My department was specialized so I was also able to ask him specific things about the job and how he would handle specific situations.

Re: Interviewing a potential boss
Did this last year. Originally they wanted us to meet individually with each candidate but we thought it would be better to meet as a group because it could get awkward or we might miss something really important.
