ok. The speed is always described as up/down.
the higher, the faster.
5 is considered slow, but if you were doing basic things it would be fine.
they might sell you internet more slow up and faster down, like: 5/25.
The more down, the faster and better your video will be.
If you can get 10/25 that would be great.
You have NO REASON to pay for monster internet 50/50 for example. You dont NEED it. Is it nice to have? Yes. But YOU dont need it for what you are doing.
To give you an example my DH and I are both in technology. We are moving a lot of data back and forth. Big movie files, big documents etc etc. My internet is 150/150. That is MONSTER internet.
Plus you are trying to save money, right?
so know that 20-35 DOWN is really good internet for you. 5-10 up is fine.
I would shoot for 10/25 depending on the price.
ETA: When I set up a law firm with internet access at hotels I pray I can get 20/20. That amount is good for 10 lawyers all connecting to the home office. Moving files, internet etc.
So you even getting 10/10 would be fine.

Re: internet speed... what am i looking for?
thank you. my current cable company was trying to force me in 100/100. wasn't sure why.
so, i'm finding some decent deals for 60/60 that are amazing for the budget... would cut my cable/internet bill down by more than half.
again, thanks for the info.

You don't NEED 100/100 Thats just CRAZY.
60/60 is blazing fast. If that is good for the budget then you are spoot on.

I have 100/100, but as stated above, most people don't need that. Paramount has a lot of good information for the typical home Internet user. I need more speed than normal because I do a lot of work from home.
