Interfaith couples - what kind of holiday cards do you send out?

for the last few yrs, I have been sending Hanukkah cards to my side and Christmas cards to his side and some mutual friends who are not Jewish.

this past week I bought interfaith cards at TJ Maxx. I thought they were so nice. they have an ornament, a Christmas tree, a star of David and a dreidel on them. But when I showed them to DH, he asked where the cross was (he was in a bad mood from work that day). so I may return them. or I might send them out just b/c he made that comment! Haven't decided yet Chat Icon

I'm not an interfaith couple, but I would tell him to do his own damn cardsChat Icon

I think those cards sound perfect. My sister converted and is now Jewish and she sends cards like this to all of our family, who are Christian.

Do you normally send religious Christmas cards to his side of the family? Is that why he made a comment about the cross? Chat Icon

Unless he wanted to send religious Christmas cards... I think those cards are fine. Not too many Christmas cards have crosses on them. I would think it was very nice to receive an interfaith card from an interfaith couple. Chat Icon

Tell him to shut it!

He can do his own damn cards. He's not the boss of you. I think it's nice that you even think of doing this.

blah..tell him to chill out.

Ones with snowmen and winter scenes, Santa because we both believe in him, an alien wearing a Santa hat, all different kinds of things.

Chanukah cards to Jewish peeps, Happy Holidays to those who celebrate both or celebrate Christmas.

we were doing the same thing, chanukah cards to our jewish friends and family and christmas cards to our catholic friends and family. This year we're doing a seasons greeting card and sending it out to everyone. The chanukah/christmas cards were also problems for our friends that are interfaith so we like the seasons greeting card better.

I send out Christmas cards, I figure that I am wishing other christian people to have a nice holiday, so its a Christmas card, I don't send them to Jewish people though.

Re: Interfaith couples - what kind of holiday cards do you send out?

We send out one. We have a few different religions (catholic, muslim, and jewish) in the family.. but Dh doesnt practice his religion and I do so, we just decided on just sending out a card that we celebrate.

Since my nephews are half jewish and muslim, (but celebrate christmas).. i try and wrap one gift in christmas paper and one gift in hanukkah paper.

Re: Interfaith couples - what kind of holiday cards do you send out?

We are not interfaith, but we are having a Chanukah card made as well as a Happy Holidays card because many of our friends are not Jewish and we are sending them a card.

Re: Interfaith couples - what kind of holiday cards do you send out?

DH & I are both Catholic, but we have plenty of friends that are either Jewish, or just not religious. I buy an even mix of Merry Christmas (with a religious them) cards, and Happy Holidays cards (with maybe a snowman, or wintery scene). I still want my non-Christian friends to have a happy holiday season, so I figure I cover the bases this way.

We also have a few couple-friends, where 1 is Jewish and 1 is Christian. If Chanukah (sp?) is close to Christmas, I write Happy Chanukah & Merry Christmas; if it's not, I write Happy Holidays, & Happy New Year.

This is the website I was trying to remember. We sit down at the computer every year after Christmas and order them for the following year when they're 50% off. We always get compliments from everyone we send them to. IMO, it's just too much trouble to look for two cards, and these best represent US, which is kind of the point.

Re: Interfaith couples - what kind of holiday cards do you send out?

Good question - In the previous years, I sent either "Happy Holidays" or "Peace on Earth" to most people

I would give some "merry christmas" to our christian friends and family and "happy chanukah" to jewish friends and family - Since I send out a lot I would buy 2 boxes of "holiday" and then 1 of each christmans / chanukah

This year, we are doing a photo card and it is "winter" - snowflakes - non-denominational

My sister's DH is also Catholic and she sends ones with my 3 nephews every year that is just wintery as well; no specific holiday

It's hard because even some of the "Happy Holidays" have wreaths on them or snowmen with red and green scarves -

Re: Interfaith couples - what kind of holiday cards do you send out?

We always send cards that have no religious significance.

Instead we get cards with cold-weather themes... snowflakes, winter scenes, penguins. Chat Icon

Inside they say "Happy Holidays". Covers it all.

I have been making separate cards for the two religions. This year, I made a winter card and I'm sending it to both sides.
