Instyler

I have it and hate it. My hair is very thick and wavy and it doesn't work on it at all.

I thought about getting one and when I researched it, there were MANY negative reviews, so I decided against it.

I have one and love it but I have to use it when my hair is totally dry. My aunt bought one and it only works for her if her hair is damp. Chat Icon

Re: Instyler

for those who hate it, please tell me why?

I have fine hair that has a bit of a wave but if I left it to air dry it would be a mix of straight, wavy and frizzy. It would like to get more of a finsihed look than just blow drying with a round brush and for special occassions to make even sexier waves.

Am I unrealistic about this tool?

I dont have fine hair but when you described the texture, it is mine to a tee and it works for me.

Buy it and try it from Bed Bath and Beyond, they take back ANYTHING so just return it if you dont like it.

It would tangle up in my fine hair like crazy.
It's the spinning thing that caused this.
Try looking into a hot air brush - same idea- doesn't spin though. Oh and a LOT cheaper
The spinning is dangerous on fine hair!

hmm..hot air brush..that could work. I also don't own a curling iron and that could help..i hate fussing though. Was looking for a quick option to work with.

A medium barrel curling iron will do wonders for smoothing you out.
I use one all the time.
But the hot air brush is easier I think

Re: Instyler

Now that my hair is longer and I don't wear it straight because it looks fuller wavy I want to style it more.

I blow out the front and crown and just dry the rest but then it's not wavy or curly enough.

Mine is the same way.
So after doing what you do, I take curling iron and just make large loose waves- but on my super fine hair, they never really stay "waves"- it just gives it some body and bounce and smooths out the unruly areas

I have similar hair. It was fine, and is now closer to medium, and wavier on the right side than the left. Chat Icon

I was looking at the InStyler in Harmon yesterday & was very tempted.

My friend has thick curly hair & it works great on her.

I am also thinking of a hot air brush--I just wasn't sure if they did enough.

I have 2 curling irons--one is too small & the other doesn't get that hot.
What size would you consider "medium"? 3/4"? 1"?

For me I like a 3/4 inch because my hair does not hold a curl
The 1 inch would be good if your hair is a bit thicker than mine

I had the same problem. I use a hot air brush no issues.

Re: Instyler

I just threw mine out a week or so ago because it burned my hair and now I have two patches of short hair mixed in with my longer hair. I was VERY annoyed.

Didn't work that great anyway.

Your hair sounds like mine. I LOVE the InStyler. I can wash my hair at night, let it dry and look horrible, then get up and spend 15 minutes with the InStyler and it looks great. Gives my hair body and makes it shiny. I can actually go longer without haircuts because it keeps it looking good. You can also use the 20% BBB coupon for it and get it for $80.

Re: Instyler

I tried the conair spin brush and returned it.

I also bought a curling iron that you have to wrap your hair around. Returned that too.

Ugh.
