we're definitely much more mod-ish than most.... but here it goes

LOVE the Eames sofas...we bought an Eames lounge chair last year (during the 50th Anniversary). I  it.

 you too? we're still saving for a house.... so ikea it is for the moment... but we still dare to dream.... We DID register for and get arne jacobsen flatware, and timo sarmpeneva china.... oh and when I was single, my splurge was my iittala kitchen... but no MAJOR investments in furniture yet...
we only bought a couple of plastic kartell chairs we'll settle with the plastic for now, and wait for the leather.... congrats on scoring an eames chair!!! I think our first purchase will be that noguchi coffee table, since it's not quite as pricy as the chairs

The lounge chair/ottoman are nestled in with Ikea - I think it works nicely 
I would love a Noguchi coffee table. We just started demo on our LR and I'm going for that slim, 60s style look and I think a noguchi would look wonderful in there Wonder if I can work that in somehow..... lol
I love the Louis Ghost chair - it's very Alice in Wonderland to me...

ooooh, that grey room is gorgeous! Despite our tiny budget, our entire apartment is black, grey, silver and glass... with touches of red here and there... so those pics fit in just perfectly... now just to find a way to budget them in 
I also love the barcelona chairs..... it's on the pipe dream list

Mine too...I lust after them, I want them so bad. Ever check out 1stdibs.com? You have to register (it's free) but I've seen a few pairs of Barcelonas from the 70s - really worn in. Just perfect. One day....
I just love how they've carried through the decades - van der Rohe designed them in '29!! Simply gorgeous.

I nearly had a heart attack when I started my post-doc in brookhaven national lab..... the chemistry building lobby and library are FILLED with barcelona chairs and noguchi coffee tables..... aparently, they had tons of donations in the early 60's and blew a lot on architecture (AMAZING!) and FAB furniture
Those bureaucratic pinheads were about to toss the furniture and replace it with modern cheap stuff.... I spoke to the departmental chair and told her that I would dumpster dive ASAP if they even considered it....

YES!!!! I love concrete countertops too.... and terrazzo flooring.... (but the latter is $$$$$)
oh, on the countertop front, there's a big secret that is catching on..... lab countertops....
hear me out.... I'm not just being a delusional researcher stuck in the lab (although I am currently )..... they're matte charcoal grey to black, and are obviously indestructable... put a hot pot, acid, bases right on top. It NEVER stains...
Best part, while they look sleek, they're not too expensive (yet), becuase they're still considered 'industrial', rather than 'designer'

you know, I'm not sure.... my dissertation advisor told me that you can buy the countertops from some vendor..... and it was crazy how cheap it was... something comperable to laminate.... (He was managing the refurbishing of our department... maybe those were NYS contract prices?) I should ask him again who sold them 
ok, if you google 'phenolic core countertop' you will see numerous lab supply companies pop-up. this is the stuff... in the standard black (although nowadays, they're getting all fancy with grey and white )
by the way, that white counter top is also gorgeous..... I wonder if it would hold up in a functional kitchen believe it or not, my dream kitchen includes a good deal of ikea cabinetry.... I love those little drawer organizers they have
