Pottery barn kids has separates, target, jc penney, .....it takes a while but you find them.

I am actually matching my own. I am not doing a particular theme. I am getting a bedskirt with lines in different colors so I can use different sheets and a breathable bumper that matches one of the colors on the bedskirt. I am trying to match the bedskirt with the window curtains and the changing pad cover so that everythiing works together.

I hope that helps Chat Icon

Everyone has a different opinion on a lot of things ........

I personally don't see how using bumpers in the crib is any more 'dangerous than putting a baby IN BED with you ..........but co sleeping is SO widely accepted, I think THAT is seriously just asking for trouble. 2 huge people to possibly roll over onto baby, sheets, blankets, pillows, big fulffy matterss ......I don't know, seems a hell of a lot worse than some puffy fabric tied to the sides of the crib - But that's me.

My son went into his crib, with his bumpers the day we brought him home from the hospital. - He was a belly sleeper from the minute he could roll him self over and once he could do that, his favorite spot to sleep was pushed up into the corner of the crib, face down ..........

What was I going to do? Stand over that crib all night and repeatedly flip him back over ?

He's perfectly fine.

This next guy will also go into his crib, from day one, with the bumpers attached securely.

PBK has separates. We actually bought bumpers and a quilt from PBK (yes, I realize these are the 2 pieces you don't really need but I still am leaning towards using bumpers at certain stages) and are mixing and matching with the zippered crib sheets and a patterned dust ruffle. Our bedding lends itself more to a mix-and-match look anyway, and would also match the breathable bumpers should we decide to use those as well

Not for nothing, but I would never put a 7 week old baby in a crib-- that is why bassinets are sold and also why it is much safer to keep them in the room with you for the first few months. I put my DD in the crib when she was 4 months old and able to roll over both ways. I used regular bumpers, but she was old enough to roll away from them if she had trouble breathing. Maybe this isn't possible for some people, but it is ideal. The breathable bumpers are fine for when they are still little and can't stand up yet and bounce around in the crib, but when they do, they will get hurt ALOT! I even know someone whose son fell in his crib and ended up cracking open his skull and now has a metal plate in his head and constant headaches and screams all of the time in pain from loud noise.

Sorry.. but I don't agree with you at all about the "never putting a 7 week od baby in a crib". It is perfectly safe to do that.....and just because a baby is in the room with you does not mean you will know if something is wrong.

I also disagree about the breathable bumpers being unsafe when they can stand up. There is no need to freak out moms-to-be that dont have the option of keeping the baby in their room from the beginning.

Just because you have bumpers, breathabe or regular, in a crib, does NOT mean a kid still can fall and hit thier head....

I was just about to post. A crib is perfectly safe for ANY age baby with teh proper precautions. Heck, some people feel that the bassinets are SIDS risks! (I used one for 3 months and I could see why they would say that!)

The breathable bumpers keep babies from getting their arms stuck in the crib. Honestly, I don't think ANYTHING is needed. My DD has hit her head, gotten her arm stuck -- and she is fine, no big deal. I use the breathable bumpers so she can't see us LOL

ANd as for putting a baby face down -- that was the recommendation when we were growing up. . . so if the baby spit up, they would not choke on it. The information out there is always evolving and changing and we have to do what we feel is right for our babies Chat Icon

I never said a crib wasn't safe -- I just wouldn't put a 7 week old in one. My opinion from my experience. I also would always put a newborn in the room with you-- I truly believe it is safer-- I am light sleeper and feel much more comfortable with that. As far as the very real danger that I mentioned-- it can happen and does happen. Breathable bumpers cannot prevent head injuries for older babies. My DD was very active in her crib when she started standing and got hurt alot. I am not trying to scare new mothers -- I think a lot of people do that here with all of the posts about potential injuries that can occur when products are not used properly -- I am not the first to do this. Wasn't teh point of this post to do just that-- to discuss a potential hazard? To use bumpers or not to use bumpers is a personal choice-- if you feel your child is safe with them, great. If you don't, great. I know plenty of people who use them and whose children are totally fine, mine included. Unfortunately, this is not the case for all children Chat Icon

I was actually planning on putting the bumpers on the crib, being that DS was old enough to roll over on his own ect, but the day I did I really didn't like how I couldn't see him from the side (between the slats) I would have to look INto the crib. The way I had the monitor set up it would not see the baby at all w the bumpers on so I took them off rt away, made no sense for me to have them on.

Yea, but a regular bumper also cannot prevent head injuries for older kids!!!! If a child is standing up and falls, what are the chances they would actually fall and hit there head in the padding? They could wack their heads on ANY part of the crib. Actually regular bumpers caused more of a risk for my DD because she would climb on them, get her foot stuck and fall backwards......she wasnt able to do that with the breathables.

The way you worded your response almost sounded like its all their fault because they put a 7 week old in a crib, even if you didnt mean it that way....
