info on centereach??
does anyone live in or have an opinion of centereach? i don't really know anything about the town, and we just expanded our house search to include that area.
i have heard negative things about the town, but only from my brother who more than likely has never even been there, and probably just knew someone he didn't like who lived there.
please give me some feedback about that area. thanks SO much in advance!

Re: info on centereach??
I grew up there. I always thought Middle Country was a good school district and I think I received a quality education.
The town itself is mostly strip malls and shopping centers, I wouldn't say it was a scenic or picturesque town. However, it is near just about everything so parks, beaches etc are not far at all.

I agree with the PP. Nice town, but not the most picturesque. The SD is pretty big and includes Selden, Centereach, and tiny pieces of Port Jeff Station, Lake Grove, and Lake Ronkonkama. I used to work in the school district and grew up in Port Jeff Station. IMO the schools zoned for Centereach HS are better than the ones zoned for Newfield. (Please don't flame, that was just my experience). Its not really accessible to the city (even with taking an express train out of Ronkonkama, it'll take over an hour).

Re: info on centereach??
We live VERY close to Centereach but in Three Village. It is very convenient, and close to the North Shore beaches. We wanted Three Village schools, so we paid more for that, but the area is literally right down the street.
I wouldn't want to live right near Middle Country Rd. because of the traffic, but other than that, I think it's fine.

I grew up in Selden. IMO I think the area has gone downhill in recent years. The school district was fine for me, but my parents did not like it. I think its middle of the road for long island. There are usual problems, fm me if you want more info.

Ditto for me. Typical middle class community. My familiy still lives there.

Re: info on centereach??
We just bought in the middle country SD. Not my first choice but we got a great house, nice neighborhood. We may move in a few years but from what I hear right now the schools are okay so hopefully they will just get better. We moved where we could afford to have a nice house, and still be able to live within our means.
