Infertility treatments w/out an RE?
Are there any infertility treatments out there that I can do without needing an RE? More on the basic infertility side of things. I can't use any infertility insurance until after August this year so I'll need some creative alternatives one's in case I need some. Any suggestions? Are there any out there at all that don't require and RE that I can get through my OB/GYN? Thanks ladies! I'm hoping not to need them, but I need some ideas.

Sure, a lot the testing and sonos can be done by an OBGYN. Also, some do treatment with Clomid and even IUI's. GL!

Re: Infertility treatments w/out an RE?
do a google search on soy isoflavones. there are lots of people out there that claim it has very similar effects as clomid.
i have used it and didnt really respond - however i didnt respond to clomid either so im not a great candidate to test it out.
google it though and im sure you will find a ton of info both for and against.

You can go the herbal supplement root, rid your house of toxins, eat organic and rid your body of toxins and stuff. Lots of info out there. The soy is something I have heard about too, but I didn't do that. Of course, I did all that and nothing happened for me...but I think I am a "worse case" scenario. I think my situation is hereditary too but I will never really know.

I don't remember your specific issues but perhaps you could ask you OB if he has anything that would lengthen you LP. I know that was one of your issues. I just did IVF and I know that I was put on Progesterone injections to help extend my LP. I'm not sure but maybe a regular OB would be willing to prescribe it.
You could also try acupuncture. That might be partially covered by your insurance.

If your OB does infertility treatment... and bills honestly, they will still be billed as infertility (via a diagnostic code) & not covered by your insurance (ie. meds & ultrasounds).

Re: Infertility treatments w/out an RE?
I have severe Endometriosis. We've been TTC going on 6 months now. My first son I got PG fairly easy and with my second son I got PG after being treated for the Endo with surgery. This time we've been trying to do things without another surgery since it could cause more scar tissue. After having 2 c-sections, a LAP and having bad Endo I already have a lot of scar tissue.
At this point I have been taking Prometrium to lengthen my LP and it's been working the past 2 cycles, but I'm still not PG. I just had an HSG done and tubes are clear so that's not the problem. Now, I'm at the point that we TTC again for a couple of more months and pray we get lucky or we'll have to figure something else out.
My doctor said I can do Clomid in a couple of months to try it but I don't know how my insurance would handle it? Can you get a prescription like that with no problem without coding it infertility? Also, if I need ultrasounds to see how the eggs are doing how would my doctor get around those? I have them sparaticly because of the Endo, but if they see ultrasounds being filed and Clomid, etc. they might not cover it. My OB/GYN would find a way to get it covered if it's a possibility. She wants me to get PG again too!
Then everyone is mentioning triggers and such to ovulate and I can't see that getting covered at all. Not sure what to do really? I don't have many options right now. I'll look into that one herbal thing that OP mentioned.
How would accupuncture help? That would be covered by insurance?

Re: Infertility treatments w/out an RE?
You should look into your insurance because mine doesn't cover infertility either. But, it covered some of my meds and my monitoring ultrasounds as long as I was doing timed intercourse. Had I moved on to IUI, then it wouldn't cover anything because then it would be considered an infertility treatment. So, you may have a loop hole.

Re: Infertility treatments w/out an RE?
Just another FYI - I don't think clomid is expensive and I know Ovidrell (trigger shot they use mostly for IUI's) is only $44. Though if you O on your own you don't even need trigger. You can try TI. Acupuncture is usually around $60 a week, so its not cheap in the long run. As DH pointed out to me. But, two friends swear it got them lucky.
