Infertility and Adoption
Do you think some people don't have the strength to deal with their infertility? If money was no problem, would you quit trying to get pg and just move on to adoption?

Re: Infertility and Adoption
I know it would be the very last resort for us.
ETA: IF is very stressful, but so is the adoption process. It would be trading one stress for another. But, I'm sure there are some people out there who would just choose to adopt if they found out they could never conceive early on and give up IF. Both are very costly too.

Re: Infertility and Adoption
I'm not sure how the cost of adoption and infertility treatments compare... but the cost of infertility treatments is still VERY expensive.
If it made no difference at all .. I'd still try the treatments before considering adoption. The treatments themselves aren't that bad.. it's the failed cycles and losses are that take the biggest toll.

Re: Infertility and Adoption
i don't think it's necessarily a matter of strength. from the little i know of the adoption process, it is also long, hard and stressful. for me, if money were no issue, we would adopt at some point. i think we would still try for a very long time with treatments before considering adoption but that in my mind it's not one or the other. i have full faith that i will bear my own child and i also hope that someday we'll be in a financial position to adopt!
