Inducing labor

I know nothing is proven, but what are your personal "tips" for going into labor? My son was 9 days late and NOTHING worked to get him out (he ended up being 9lbs 7oz). I'm 38 weeks now and this baby is measuring even bigger -- currently 9lbs. Would love to start trying to encourage this baby to come so at minimum, I'm not as late this time around. Any suggestions? I strongly believe your body goes into labor when it's ready.

I got induced at 39 weeks, but prior to it, I walked ALOT and ate alot of pineapple. I have no idea if it did anything to help, but I moved along pretty quickly and was only in labor for about 6 hours. I was between 1-2cm when I got induced that day, and was 80% effaced if that makes a difference

So do I, but I'm just trying to hold out hope that I don't go 9 days late again. Chat Icon

I got a pedicure with foot massage 2 days before I went into labor (at just over 38 weeks).

Since both of mine were a week late I'm probably not the best for advice on this...but I have heard having your OB "strip the membranes" can help. Mine did the day before I went into labor and I don't know if it actually helped or not but maybe worth a try.

Good luck and hang in there Chat Icon

Eggplant parm and pineapple. If it didn't help, at least it was delicious.
For my 1st and 3rd, I listened to a hypnobabies mp3 in the early evening and went into labor early the next morning. My 2nd was on time, so I didn't try it. I think it was called "baby come out".

nothing worked. I tried every stupid old wives tale, except sex because I felt like a beached whale and there was no way that was happening. Absolutely nothing worked. I was induced and after 33 hours of not progressing I had a csection. So I honestly don't believe there is anything that will work unfortunately

I forgot about that track!!! I have that one downloaded from my last pregnancy. Will have to start listening to it.

Re: Inducing labor

You could try to use the breast pump. Supposedly it makes you release the hormones that trigger contractions. For me it did start contractions which were "false labor " bc my cervix wasn't dilating but then a few days later it became real labor.

Lol!
I remember avoiding pinapple with my first... what a waste!!! My first two came magically 1 week early, to the day.

With my third, I tried everything:

1. A "labor inducing" point massage by a nurse who used to be a professional masseuse (she was a friend and is the bet masseuse I've ever had...)

2. Eating an entire pinapple core

3. Sex and nipple play.

4. Walking for miles on top of being on my feet at work

5. Spicy food

6. I went into the hospital and used all the heavy stuff and failed THAT.

One week later, baby had no more fluid... and my body finally took to MEDICAL induction.

They come when they come... or are evicted.
