Inactive Voter?
When I went to vote on Tuesday, I wasn't listed in the book to sign. It was my normal district and my parents were listed, usually we're in order but my name wasn't there. The polling workers couldn't explain why I wasn't there when I always have been.. I needed to vote under an affidavit but my question is - I have voted at every election I could since I turned 18.. I'm now 28. I google searched and found a place where I could look up my voting status in NYS and I come up as inactive.. how? Have none of my votes counted? How do I fix this?

Inactive Voter?
Same thing happened to my sister. She has literally lived on the same street for 33 out of her 35 years alive. She has lived in her current house for 4 years and voted in every election. She too had to vote by affidavit.
Meanwhile, I have not lived there since 2007 and I am listed..... My sister actually pointed that out and the woman seemed unfazed.

Inactive Voter?
Happened to the person in front of me at my polling place. Said they voted last year, but they were on the inactive list.

Re: Inactive Voter?
You aren’t the first person I heard about this happening to, and only this past election.
Do you vote every 2 years? My understanding is that they tried to “purge” people who haven’t voted in 2 elections. Or if they sent mail to your address confirming your address and you didn’t respond. Since you signed the affidavit you’re fine.

Inactive Voter?
One year I had received a card from voter registration confirming I was still at my address, etc. That year I was on the inactive list to vote. When I checked that postcard, it said that I needed to respond and confirm I wa still at the address. So, maybe it was something like that. Like less address change activity and they send out a confirmation and if they don't get it make you inactive. But if you show up allow you to vote by affadavit.

Inactive Voter?
My name was missing from the register and the Board of Elections website didn’t have me listed at all, despite having lived at the same address for 13 years and voting many times. I was told I could use an affidavit, but those are not counted unless the election is close.
I called the Board of Elections and they told me that my account was deleted in March 2018 because I had a duplicate registration in Nassau County from when I lived there for one year in 2004. They told me the only way I could vote would be to get a court order from a judge.
I went to the Central Islip court, pled my case, and got a court order permitting me to vote.
I checked the board of elections website a few days after the election, and my account is now there. It’s all very suspicious.

Yes, I vote at every single election. So weird.
