Implantation spotting
I have a question....how long does implantion spotting last? I started spotting about 13 dpo...a day before my expected period. I spotted sporadically for 2 days, and now today nothing. I took a test this morning (15DPO) which came out negative. Do I get my hopes up, or am I just having a super light period?
Thanks for any advice

Re: Implantation spotting
Hi-- implantation spotting is usually brown or pinkish. It usually lasts for 2 days or so. This may sound gross but good way to tell if AF is coming is the q tip test. Insert a qtip into your cervix ..if it comes out pink or red it usually means AF is coming and is making its way slowly downward. Wishing you luck!!!

Re: Implantation spotting
Thanks Cher for the answer.....don't have any qtips on me right now. Is 13 DPO too late to even be thinking it's implantation?

That is really cool, I never heard of this before.
How many days before AF can you do this to have it be accurate? How do you know you reached far enough to get to your cervix?

Re: Implantation spotting
Your welcome!!! Insert the qtip all the way in so that the other end of the qtip is at the opening of your hole! Just dont let go of the qtip. You will not hurt anything.. Just go as far up as you can go holding onto the other end. If it comes out clear on day 13 post ovulation and u r regular in your luteal phase which is average 14 days past ovulation then try again on day 14. If it still comes out clear take a HPT!!!!! If you see some pink on the cotton swab then you know AF is making its way slowly down. If you do see pink you will most likey start bleeding in the next 24 hours. Its a cheap way to save money on HPT Tests. Let me know if you have any more questions. :) Best of luck to everyone!!! Stock up on QTips!!!!!

Re: Implantation spotting
I would think twice before putting a q-tip near my cervix especially if you are pregnant. You are risking introducing an infection, also disturbing the cervix and if you are pregnant can disrupt th epregnancy.
If you admant about doing this you should buy medical sterile q-tips that are individually sealed, not just a q-tip out of the box.

I have to agree with this. I wouldn't stick anything into my cervix. If you have an actuall procedure (like an IUI or HSG) they will sterlize the outside of the cervix and only use sterile equipment as you would be in danger of an infection by having foreign objects in there.
If you are getting AF, she will come. If you are pregnant, you will get a BFP soon. I wouldn't take a chance of infection by sticking a q-tip into your cervix. I also wouldn't put it anywhere near my vagina, little pieces of cotton can come off and cause irritation.
If you must feel around up there, wash your hands good and use your finger to sweep around your cervix.
ETA: you can also feel your cervix - it AF is coming it will usually feel pretty hard, like the tip of your nose, and if you are pregnant it might feel soft like the inside of your cheek. Of course these are not foolproof signs, but a lot safer than sticking a q-tip in there. Also if you are pregnant there is a good chance your cervix will be closed and if you try to force something in there you can do a lot of damage. Just not worth it IMO.
