Re: I'm torn - can you give me advice?
My two cents. We have a cat, Pedro, who is 5. Troy LOVES (and torments) Pedro. It's hard b/c Pedro was used to having run of the house, but now we have the kitchen blocked off (for Troy) and Pedro either is "stuck" in or out of the kitchen. PS, his food and litter box are in the kitchen. When I go in the kitchen with Troy, Troy makes a BEE LINE for Pedro's food! He grabs a handful and stuffs whatever he can in his mouth...ICK! He has not swallowed any, but still. He has not gone near the little box, but I believe that has to do with it being under the table.
We did have one issue when Pedro scratched Troy's forearm, accidentally. Pedro was trying to jump up on the couch to be by me and didn't see that Troy was right next to me. Troy didn't even cry, well- he did after I yelled at Pedro!
If we did not have a cat, I don't think we would get one, at least not now. I know Troy adores Pedro. And I love Pedro. DH and I have had the pet talk and agree that the only pets we'll have going forward are fish. DH is very into fish (we do not currently have a tank, but have in the past) and enjoys caring for them. Which is fine with me.
