I don't know where you can get it, but you may want to rethink the chocolate fountain. It will be hot when you have the party and the chocolate may not harden on the food the way it should, and also it will be really messy for kids to be running around playing with the food and everything else that goes along with it. I know, it is really unique (I had it at my wedding), but I don't know if you would want to do it in a backyard. JMO.

Check the yellow pages, alot of party places do cotton candy and choco fountains. I manage an apt community in ct, and when we do function we rent a cotton candy machine, snow cone maker and popcorn machine. We got it from the same company that we rented a bouncy castle from.
the choco fountain should be for the adults! let the kids eat that spun sugar
Ets: I love cotton candy too, I would be soo eating that, but then again i love all sweets
ETA again: For the price of renting, ask if they send someone to run the machine. When I called around i found that the ones that were a little bit more expensive had someone to man all the stations so you don't have to worry about the mess and getting it ready. They would set it up, serve, and take it down.

you can buy the chocolate fountain for about $50 from BBB, Linens & Things, etc.
probably cheaper than renting.

We rented a choc. fountain for my sister's 30th..it was $300+ and beautiful. The "small" is for 100 people. I would get one at Linens and Things. I have one and use it for holidays. I personally would not get a cotton candy machine since it is VERY messy and depending on the children's age their parents may not allow it- such as I don't with Molly.

My kids just had cotton candy at a ball game. What a mistake -- Make sure you have tons of wipes if you opt for this. They were also completely sugared up, followed by a sugar, cranky crash.
If you do it - do it at the END of the party.

It might be cheaper even to buy a cotton candy maker? We got one as a wedding gift but it was only $40 plus $10 for the supplies when we used it ... of course if you're like us you might be wondering when on earth you'll use it again
Just a suggestion - hope it helps!

Re: Im sorry- Im sorry
The chocolate fountains are great, I have one I got it for less the 40 dollars at bed bath beyond, but if you buy a chocolate fountain make sure you follow the directions exactly. Its kind of strange that it tells you to add oil to the melted chocolate but that's how it works. My MIL came up with her own recipe because she refused to add oil and it was a mess the machine was seizing (sp?) and she had me take the whole thing apart and put it back together while it was covered in chocolate because she wouldn't admit it was because she didn't add the oil.TThen we finally got her to add oil and she dumped like the whole bottle in. The whole thing was a disaster and I missed over half the party cleaning up her mess.

Re: Im sorry- Im sorry
Chocolate fountains at small gatherings are ok. Fun even. But chocolate fountains at large events spell disaster, in my opinion. I am so petrified of double dippers!!! Dip, bite, redip- ewwwww!!! Also, what if a finger goes into the chocolate, gets licked, and said finger returns to the chocolate. <<<GAG>>> There are so many factors to consider!! Maybe it's me and my neurosies (sp?), but I would never dunk my snack into chocolate that God knows what has been done to it!

You can buy the chocolate fountain at Fortunoffs or even Target.
What about a popcorn cart as another option? Yummy and not messy
