i'm sorry if it causes controversy but...
can anyone tell me how O.J. Simpson is still not incarcinated?
i remember i was in elemtary school (i know, i know) and all the kids were excited he was found not guilty.
let's just say i was the minority in my school.... (i went to Central Islip)
now.... i don't care if he was white, black, purple, or blue.... i think he is guilty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do you think that sometimes certain types of people, whether it be race, creed, sexual orientation, etc stick together just for sake of sticking together?
not only that... is it just me or is OJ TOTALLY guilty?!?!?!?
his case has made me lose sooooooo much faith in the justice system

He's not jailed because he is not guilty by a jury.
That's not to say *I* think he's innocent.

It is all about $$$, not race. If OJ was an average person, he probably would have been found guilty. Thank God Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan have to serve time for their crimes, b/c for a long time, if you were famous, you got away with murder, which is exactly OJ's scenario!

I think some people of any group will "stick together" just for the sake of sticking together. Other people don't and form their own opinions even though they are members of the same group. I personally thought OJ was guilty based upon what evidence was made public, but I believe that no one knows the truth but the killer (which is in all likelihood OJ).
By the way, I feel SO old right now. You were in elementary school? I was in my first year of college!!

Re: i'm sorry if it causes controversy but...
Ok let me start by saying, I believe he is guilty. This sad, last weekend we watched this special on him, I think on the History channel, and they had a recap of the case and trial. The Jury was not allowed to go home, read paper talk to anyone, they did not see what we saw on the news. The prosecution didnt call or do certain things because they didnt want to opent he can of worms. In the end that killed them, he won. They Jury memebers even said, they went by what they were givin, and when the prosectuition, BIG witness Mark furman testified they (pros) thought they had it in the bad (Mark found the glove) turns out they (pros) didnt know about his (MF)past using the "N" word and other racist statements, and that in the long run screwed them.
Also $$$$ talks, I believe with enough of that you can pretty much get a way with anything, JMHO.

if I remember, they had all the evidence they needed - they just couldnt get on the same page The evidence was tampered with. A friend of mine goes to John Jay & wrote a paper about this case. He thinks that OJ covered up for his son....

Re: i'm sorry if it causes controversy but...
There were many, many errors made on this case. By the police, the judge (remember the TV escapades of Judge Ito? ), the media and the prosecution. In the end, it led to him being found not guilty of criminal charges. He was, however, found guilty in the civil courts which was much less publicized. He cannot be tried for the same crime twice so they can never go after him again...no matter how many books he writes.
I don't know if it was a case of a race banding together in this instance. It was more of a total f*ckup on a lot of peoples parts.
I think something like the Don Imus issue was a race banding together thing.

Of course this is about money, if it weren't, Kim Kardashian would not be made out of plastic - her Dad was one of OJ's attorney's.

Re: i'm sorry if it causes controversy but...
He was found "not guilty", but, it was not proven that he was "innocent". He cannot be tried again even if he were to confess because of "double jeopardy". He was found liable in the civil trial which requires only a preponderance of the evidence be proven. He will never go to jail for these crimes that he so obviously committed. I watched this trial and have never seen something so grossly mishandled in my whole life. From the selection of the jury, to how the evidence was presented, to the judge who couldn't control the attorneys, not to mention the circus atmoshphere in the courtroom, and, finally, the verdict. This jury delivered a "not guilty" verdict in record time considering the amount of evidence they needed to go over. It was clear they were never going to convict him. Their minds were made up as soon as they sat in that jury box.
Is he guilty? Absolutely! No doubt at all. Since, he can't be taken out of society, the next best thing is for society to stay away from him. The worst punishment for him was to lose the spotlight. He thrived on it. The only reason you ever hear about him is because someone in the media decides to bring him to the forefront again for whatever reason. My belief is that, although, he may not get his punishment in this life, there will, most certainly, be something waiting for him in the next.
