I'm sad
My much needed vacation next week has just been cancelled. Cancun has mandatory evacuations so the travel agent (my mom!) called to give me my options, reschedule or cancel. This was supposed to be our 1 year anniversary trip! This *****! We used miles for the airfare so now I need to call American to see what we can do.
Any suggestions on where we should go instead? We were supposed to leave on Sunday! I REALLY needed this vacation!

Aww Felice I am so sorry.. but as the other girls said, its so much better you know this NOW rather than head off for Mexico and get stuck in this or evacuated then!
I hope you can work something else out with the airlines and still take a wonderful anniversary vacation!

Thank you all! I know I can rely on you all for good thoughts. Yes, you are right, much better to be here where it is safe but I wanted to go away (said in a REALLY whiny voice!!)

That happened to us in July, the day before we were going to leave the hurricane hit Mexico and our hotel was closed indefinitely.
We ended up going to Secrets Resorts in the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) and loved it. We said it worked out as best as it could of.
Good luck. Hope you have a great vacation wherever you end up!

Thank you all again for the good wishes! We are discussing all our optins at this point. We were looking forward to a little beach, sun, swimming but most of all relaxing. We are so grateful that we had enough time to cancel with no penalties and that we are safe here but we are still bummed. We have been considering: Cabo San Lucas, Peurta Vallarta, Cali, Las Vegas for warm locations. Before we look for tickets anywhere, we check out weather.com. No point planning a trip and then having to sit inside the room all day because it is reaining. We can do that at home! What we will most likely end up doing is going to Washington DC and be tourists for a few days.
Thank you again! Not that I am a everyday poster anyway, but if you don't see me on here for a few days, that is a good thing!!

We were supposed to go to the Secrets resort in Cancun. We have already been to the one in DR and LOVED it!! We wanted to try their other resorts instead of going back to the same one. Basically all of the Carribean is expecting a lot of rain next week so we are trying to avoid that.
I'm sorry your trip got cancelled. You understand what we are going through!!
