I'm not feeling the baby yet

No flutters no nothing! I'm getting so nervous that something is wrong...I had my regular monthly appt and the Dr said he/she was moving around a lot and took a while for us to get a heartbeat, so if the baby's moving why am I not feeling him/her Chat Icon

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

how far along are you? i started feeling baby at 16 weeks, but I was underweight to begin with so baby has less space, some people feel it later

ETA oh i see you are only 17 weeks, you may have to wait a couple more weeks to feel DC

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

I honestly just started feeling the baby at about 18-19 weeks and this is my second...the doctor told me at 16 weeks I should be feeling movement, but I wasn't feeling anything I knew was movement until recently...don't worry, it'll start soon!

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

22weeks is not that late

I know a lot of ladies here had it before 18weeks but I wasn't one of them..

I'd say 20-22weeks.

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

How soon you feel something could depend on how the baby and/or placenta are positioned.

There were a few times 1.5-2 weeks ago when I wasn't sure whether I felt flutters. I definitely started feeling them 1 week ago. I was almost 16 weeks although Chat Icon was measuring 17 weeks. I actually wasn't expecting to feel flutters for another few weeks. I'm sure you'll feel them soon. Chat Icon

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

It's still very early. I did not feel the baby (or at least what I think is the baby) until 19 weeks (I'm still unsure what I'm supposed to be feeling!). My doc said with the first it can be anywhere from 16-26 weeks without feeling anything - everyone is different, every baby is positioned differently, so no worries. Chat Icon

My baby is supposedly very active too and can hear movement on the doppler and see it in a sono but I don't feel it all yet, only sometimes. My placenta is also laying in the front of my belly as well, which my doc said is absorbing some of the movement. Could be in your case as well! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

At 17 weeks, all I felt was something similar to gas bubbles- and it wasn't every day. It was very random. It wasn't until 20 weeks or so that I really felt movement.

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

don't worry! I didn't feel much of anything until about 21 weeks... even then it was like one thud every couple days or so. It only began to be a daily thing at about 24 weeks....

I remember how I wanted to feel regular movements... it definitely is reassuring to know everything is ok in there.... but I'm sure your little bean is fine in there...... soon, very soon.....

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and still not feeling definite movement. This weekend I started feeling some stuff that I was pretty sure was the baby, but it is really hard to tell if it's the baby or stretching pains. I am very anxious to start feeling definite movement too, but I won't be really worried until 22 weeks. Hopefully I feel my Chat Icon by then!

I've only felt bubble-like activity once or twice. I'm 16 weeks. I feel the same way as the OP though. My stomach doesn't look that big either.........

That is extremely early IMO. I didn't feel anything until 22 weeks - and then it was nonstop! Don't worry - you'll feel your little one in no time! Chat Icon

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

I googled the other day about flutters and they said most woman dont feel until after week 22, if its their first pregnancy.. and thats still early. They also said to really feel you may have to lay down and relax for a bit and then you may begin to feel.

I remember with my dd, i was lying on my back with my feet up and watching tv.. not paying much attention and then all of a sudden i felt a giggling sensation inside.

Heres the part i googled:

"At this time you may be showing more than a pooch. Thinner women tend to show more than heavier women. You may also be feeling butterflies. Most women describe this as a tickling sensation, or butterflies, and it is usually felt around the belly button. If you have not felt it yet, try to feel this unique sensation right after you eat. Get in a comfortable position a place your hand on your abdomen. You may not feel anything on the outside, but you may feel the "butterfly" feeling on the inside. Women who have had a child before may feel this sensation earlier because they know what to expect. Women who have not had a previous child, usually feel this by 22 weeks (about 5 and 1/2 months). "

Re: I'm not feeling the baby yet

I didn't feel DD move until around 22-23 weeks. You could have an anterior placenta which is blocking the baby's kicks....Chat Icon Chat Icon
