I'm just sitting here at work

quietly crying. I don't know how much more of this I can take.

thanks for letting me get it out.

Most of the people around me here are sick of the story already and I don't feel like talking.
Writing is much easier.

Just look at how far you've come. You've done so much for your brother, and your family.

You're entitled to a few stressful tears.

Ohhh Susan, I know how you are feeling right now, I really do. You have so much bottled inside, but so much responsibility that it's hard to just breakdown and be vulnerable for a moment. And you feel like all you do is complain and vent, that no one wants to hear it anymore.

But, we do. We are all here for you, and we are all here to support you through every little emotion you go through. You're under a tremendous amount of stress - most would crack by now (I already have Chat Icon ). You should be proud of the person you are and all that you have done for your family. At the same time, allow yourself to feel your emotions and experience them.

You don't always have to be strong - you can feel weak and vulnerable and cry and vent. But, at the end of the day, we all know you aren't - you've shown time and time again through all of thise you are one amazing pillar of strength.

but it will be harder for them and I have tremendous guilt about it. I feellike I'm saddling them with this disabled person who they will have to care for. the whole thing is not fair to anyone mostly Fred, but it's changed our lives forever.

don't assume that it will be harder for them. I am sure they are prepared for this. that's why they're moving back right? Chat Icon

you will be able to share the burden with them.

Don't feel guilty - this is what family is for - they take care of one another and share in the burden (or, at least, they should). There's no reason on earth why the burden of your older brother's care should fall entirely on his sister's shoulders. I'm sure your parents WANT to share in this burden - hie is, after all, their child. A parent would do anything for their child. Please don't feel guilty...

Try not to feel like that. This is their son and I'm sure they have a lot of guilt for everything that has been placed on your shoulders.

Once they are here you can all lean on each other Chat Icon Chat Icon for support.

ETA: Because of all you have done for Fred, they still have a son. He was very close to not being with you anymore, please try to remember that. He is here because he received the best care possible. He will continue to improve with support and love from his whole family.Chat Icon

You've been through so much stress, it's ok to cry, that's getting it out in a healthy manner. I'm sorry "no one" wants to listen anymore, but you know you've got shoulders to lean on here!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I'm just sitting here at work

My parents are older and my mom is disabled herself. They do want to help him but it will be hard.

They have given up a lot of their lives for him in the past and now it's the same.

I wish I could turn the clock back. I would have taken him out of that place and gotten him to the right hospital. None of this would have happened.

Sometimes you need to let it out.

You're an amazing person, but what you're dealing with is difficult! It's understandable how stressed and overwhelmed you are.

Your parents will be here soon... hopefully that will help.

Just know you're doing an amazing job - and it's okay to cry sometimes.

I just spoke to my dad. He's calmed my nerves for now. How canhe keep his head so straight when I feel like I've lost mine?

Re: I'm just sitting here at work

I think part of the problem is that I have been helping them and helping to take care of them for years now. Now, they have shown me that they don't need me to do that as much.

Weird.

Well said. You have done so much for your brother, and feeling overwhelmed is natural and normal. With family, you always share the pain AND the joy, and it all works out!
