I'm having a guilty mom moment..

From the time I got my BFP, I knew that my baby would be in daycare.

But now, with my new job, I went from picking him up before 5 - or 5 at the latest, to 6:00.

That hour makes all the difference in the world. I used to be done with feeding him, bathing him, and he was in his pajamas by 6:49 (Its amazing hom much of a nightly routine I had!) to now not even starting the whole process until after 7. Especially if he falls asleep on the way home - like he did tonight...

and then, our playtime no longer exists.

I get screaming, tired, cranky Cailen, until I put him down to sleep. And he is so out of sorts the entire time. Tonight, all he wanted was his bed....

And the mornings are spent with him in the PNP playing while I get ready, and get everything ready for daycare, and my only interaction with him is when I dress him. I try and spend some time before I get started with cuddle and playtime, which is so nice....

I'm so sad that I am missing this time with him - now that he's walking, playing, dancing, and talking - its wasted on his daycare providers. Yes, they love him and share the stories from the day and think he's hysterical, but I want to exeprience that all day too.

I live for my weekends with him.

I'm just so sad tonight. I took this new job because there is so much more in it for me so that eventually we can all live better, but right now, these late nights are so disruptive to the wonderful little routine and life we had each evening....Chat Icon

I feel you Liza.

I get home between 6 and 7 most nights. Then I cook and feed the kids and set them to homework.

And now - when I have some time - they are both sleeping like lambs.

I can't wait until tomorrow!!Chat Icon

I have the same thing we don't get home until 6:45 - 7:15 so our night is dinner, baths, some time together and bed. It stinks but we have no choice. We live in Suffolk and work in Nassau so we have a longer commute. It does stink but you get used to itChat Icon

Well - it's more like searing them. I don't season them though... I am afraid of allergies.

I feel your pain. There are many days where DD is sleeping while I'm home and having all her great moments at daycare-today they told me she walked across the room, and I've only seen her take a few steps here and there. It hurts to know that someone else is getting to see all that.

But we are doing this so that we can provide a good life for our children. And daycare has so many benefits--they learn social skills, make friends, get to interact with other babies.... we just have to keep looking at the positive.

I know. When I get sad I think - "Would Cailen even be the pip that he is if he weren't with all these kids and people all day?"

I don't think he would - plus, he'd be shy and clingy, and he has so much confidence. That's all from daycare....

Hang in there, my dear. It will all feel like a big mess until you establish a new routine. It's like going back to square one again. You'll get into a rhythm, and before you know it, you'll be dancing and playing with him again in the evenings. Especially with it being light out longer, I found that it was a good time last year to stretch Ava's bedtime to about 45 minutes later. I wanted more time with her and it worked. Hang in there. It will get betterChat Icon
