Guilty Mom here...

I am still and have bought Andrew toys made in China and I will continue too. Not because I love China or think what is happening is right but because they are the only ones that have the toys that he likes. Or that I think he will like and benefit from. Until or if they are recalled then I will deal with it.

Am I aloneChat Icon I feel guilty at times when questioned by others.

Re: Guilty Mom here...

Toys are recalled from every country. I still buy toys without looking at the country of manufacture. When things are discovered like this, I figure China is probably the safest country to buy from now (Any products made from this point on. There are still recalls from older toys coming out). They are going to be under such scrutiny from now on.

There is no country that hasn't had a recall. I just have to be aware of the notices, and take what precautions I can, and deal with things as they happen.

Re: Guilty Mom here...

I have gotten a few small items ( like teething rings)from China. They are made by Sassy which to my knowledge has not been on a recall list. So, put me on the bad mommy list too.

The way I look at it is those same toys have been manufactured & used probably for the last 30-40 years, we all grew up w/ them, now b/c they are checking more diligently they determined this...I think its fine, as long as they aren't biting on the toys (which I'm sure happens though).

Re: Guilty Mom here...

Add me to that list then...cause DD's have tons of stuff that wasn't recalled from china. As soon as i see one of them chopping on it and the paint/plastic look damaged, i chuck em.

my dd's lead test came back fine so i am not so worried, i just keep on top of recalls.

I havent really been checking all that much either. She doesnt put these toys in her mouth so I cant see taking them away from her.

Its funny, because I'm normally the voice of paranoia, but I'm just not worried about buying from the major brands at this point. My daughter is 2.5, so she isn't sucking on her toys anymore, and they seem to be rechecking everything for safety. I just watch the recalls.

I simply won't buy unrecognizable brands since I don't think you can expect to hear about recalls on those.

I would be more worried if she was in the teething stage though and everything was always in her mouth.

Re: Guilty Mom here...

We're still buying toys regardless of where they are made.

However, I have been being a little more conscious of what I do buy. And, he actually like the "simpler" toys better. He plays with the wood toys much more than the plastic.

Us too- remember even the toys that were recalled were VOLUNTARY by Mattel to avoid a major stock drop.
