I'm confused...
I started Provera last night- 10mg for 5 days. If I get AF by the 19th I start BCP on CD2. Otherwise- I am out for the cycle.
According to Gail- Dr. K wanted me on BCP for a minimum of 14 days- but Gail convinced him to stop at 10 days (again- I guess so I make the cycle) They want my last BCP to by no later than the 30th- which is why af HAS to be here by the 19th.
Anyway- If I stop the BCP after 10 days- won't I get my period again? What is the point of the BCP? Why wouldn't they just start stimming me with THIS AF? Is it just so I am on the same time frame as everyone else? Isn't it kind of - not a good thing to have AF come twice in a matter of like- 2.5 weeks?
Can someone explain this crap to me?

I don't know what protocol they will put you on, but I was on BCP overlapping with the start of Lupron. I stopped BCP 5 days after starting Lupron, then got what they call a Lupron Bleed about 3 days later. I started Stims on what they call CD3 based on that bleed and my bloodwork from that day.

Re: I'm confused...
Hey. I don't know the answers to all your questions but, for this cycle, you must start your stims by December 5th. So yes, they are doing all this to fit you into their window. I don't know if you'll get your period again. I was on BCP's for 5 weeks. I just went off them on Friday and when I went in for my check yesterday, Gail told me I may or may not get a bleed. Well, this am I am bleeding but it's nothing like a regular AF bleed.
The BCP's supress your ovaries. The majority of clinics will only let you start a cycle without BCP's if you are a poor responder. Since this is your first IVF cycle, that's probably why they want you on the BCP's first. They don't want you to overstim which I believe, can happen if you are not supressed first.

Re: I'm confused...
Not sure of all of the answers, but when I first when on BCP - it was only supposed to be for 2 weeks. It ended up being for 4 weeks, but the RE said that I may or may not get AF after I came off.
I usually have 2 heavy days, 2 medium days, 2 light days - but after the BCP - I only had 1 heavy, 1 medium, and 2 days of spotting.

Re: I'm confused...
The point of the BCP is to supress your system evenly. Even though you are coming off AF, you may have a lead follicle growing that they aren't aware of. So they put you on BCP to shut everything down so to speak...this way, when you do start you will be completely supressed and all follicles will be the same to start with. You will get another period, but it'll probably be very light.
