I'm back from my IVF interview...

DH and I went to LI-IVF's melville office to meet w/ Dr. Kenigsberg. They sent me the paperwork ahead of time and I had filled it all out so they took it and photocopied my license and medical insurance card. They told us to have a seat and literally 2 mins later the nurse came out to say that Dr. K was ready to meet with us. The office is very clean and nice looking...
I didn't have any of my records so we just sat and talked for a little while. He asked us both our medical history. He was very different than my current RE and I felt he treated this whole thing very business like, no cushioning anything at all the way my dr does.
I was hoping that he would give the OK to start filing paperwork for the grant b/c I had done it all ahead of time, but he made a note of it in his chart.... and said we'd discuss it once I came back with my medical records.
He did an internal sono and said my lining looked good and my ovaries are definately PCOS looking, but 'not the worst he's ever seen'. He didn't take any blood or anything. He mentioned the possibility of an HSG and then said he was debating if I should get one or not b/c on one hand it's good to know if anything's blocking your tubes, but on the other hand if we go the IVF route, it may not be necessary...

I just wish we had determined a plan. I feel like I've just been floating along for the past few weeks and now I'm going to continue floating.... Chat Icon
Oh, and he also mentioned ovarian drilling, just like my dr. Chat Icon

I know you're anxious but I wouldn't expect him to go ahead an make a plan without your medical records.

How frustrating..I'm sorry.Chat Icon

Once he gets your records he can move ahead with a clearer plan for you. Hang in there! As long as he is open to the idea of IVF for you, that's all that matters.

Chat Icon I found Dr. Brenner at LIIVF to be the same way - very businesslike which honestly, is fine with me.

When I first met with him, he had my records, but we all knew that IVF was my only option. He wouldn't move forward with IVF until my remaining tube was removed. Once that happened, I went for my "official" IVF interview which happened with a nurse and she had the protocol that he had already put together for me.

So, I do think things will get clearer and he'll be ready to move quickly once he's got your history. I mean, they moved really fast to get me into a cycle. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I'm back from my IVF interview...

He is much different then what you are used to. But I do think, at least for me what pushed me over the edge into switching were the results. You cannot argue with the stats and in speaking with the man you can tell he is very proud of his accomplishments. I think he will move fast once he gets your records. I had my ivf interview before they were received and we did a unmedicated IUI before he got them as well. But my issues are solely male he probably wants to get a full picture of what is going on with you. I am surprised they did have you do an hsg yet. Its something I would think they would do right away. I got pg with DD the 2nd cycle after my first one. Of course I had my 2nd in Decmber and nothing. Hang in there and bug the other office about the records. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon I bet once he has your medical records, things will go much more quickly for you...I know how you feel, you get all psyched up for something and yet hit another road block. I guess you do want a doctor who dots the "I"s and crosses the "T"s or else in the end it can waste even more precious time...Try to hang in there, your time will come soon enough Chat Icon

Re: I'm back from my IVF interview...

You are heading in the right direction and now its only a matter of time (I know, time is ticking by). I remember when I first went to the RE and I was excited to start right then and there with clomid. And i get there, talk to the RE. And she's looking at my HSG results, now mind you I already met with them a month prior with the idea of starting clomid/iui. So, when she starts thinking I might need a lap/hysto and to abstain altogether I left there crying. Hang in there. You will get there very soon. it's all about doing it the right way for your body and not waisting time with things that wont work. You've done that. You wouldn't want an RE that rushes things on your for no reason.

I for one am very excited for you. It takes a lot of strength to switch RE's. Its going to happen.

Thanks everyone, I know you're all right. I just was hoping to get the ball rolling... the last thing I want to find out is that while waiting to get everything else done before submitting the paperwork- that the grant $ ran out- because there's no way we can afford IVF out of pocket- so we'd be back to square 1 again.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I am right there with you. I posted yesterday that Dr. K called me and said I have an underactive thyroid, and gave me another medication to take. I was planning to ask if I could just force my cycle, and then start clomid. I am tired of waiting to see IF the meds work.Chat Icon

On the other hand, he is the only doctor to have found this, so I am grateful that he is trying to figure out WHY i'm not getting pg instead of just shooting straight to the IUI like the other RE I went to wanted to do.

I know it stinks, but you'll get thereChat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm sorry sweetie, hang in there. You're right to be happy that he's the first one to find it... I'm just so done w/ TT TTC (yes I posted that right!) I'm done w/ trying to try to conceive, only to have my cycle cancelled before I can even start.... KWIM? I just want to actually get to try--- even IVF at this point- I just want an outcome already... yeah, I know, it won't be on my time.. my DH keeps reminding me. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I'm back from my IVF interview...

outcomes with TTC and IF are long gotten unfortunatly.

Most people it seems have a journey of 2-5 yrs before success.

As I said in my other post, the more you know the better preapred you will be. You Have to have patience with this or you will lose your mind.

Remember there are soooo many other women doing just what you are and the best Dr's are far and few between, so everyones fighting for the same thing.

It will come! Chat Icon
