I'm at my wits end......UPDATED 11/9/07
I love Daisy, I really do, but every morning sometime between 5am and 7am, she throws up, so now we're not sleeping afraid she's going to get sick in bed. Since Sunday, it's happened everyday, either while we're sleeping and we wake up to her about to throw up, or she does it when after we're out of bed, she's been outside to do her business and then she comes in and throws up.
She still chows down on her breakfast after she gets sick, but we're getting worried.
She goes to the Vet on Monday for her neutering. She had to have blood work done, and the vet called and said she was fine.
Do dogs/puppies do this with the time change????
UPDATE 11/9/07: We fed Daisy enough food to cover the bottom of her bowl when we went to bed at 11pm and she slept soundly all night long without once waking up. And when the alarm went off, she barely wanted to get out of bed. So, we'll see how things go, but it's been 1 day since she last threw up, so this is good. Thanks for all your help.

Hmmmmm there really has to be something wrong. Sometimes even lack of nutrition but thats cant be it because I know you have been trying different foods.
I really don't know - the vet is going to have to figure sometihng out.
How old is she and when did you get her compared to when this started? Did you get her from a breeder or a pet store?

We got her when she was 7 weeks old. She's now 6 months. We got her from a breeder.
We thought that maybe it was from my MIL over feeding her when Daisy would visit her, but she went back to her regular food schedule over the last two days and she's still getting sick.
My MIL fed her an extra 1/4 cup of food, whereas Daisy usually eats 1/4 cup at breakfast, 1/8 at lunch and 1/4 at dinner, and my MIL gave her an extra 1/4 cup during a evening Daisy stayed with her while DH and I went to a drum clinic.

Also to add, all she is throwing up is bile. Just yellow bile.

Re: I'm at my wits end......
my lil guy does this sometimes... the sound of him about to throw up wakes me up. it's usually that yellow bile as well. it's never worried me because it doesn't happen frequently... but if daisy is doing it everyday, i would think there is something specific triggering it. what did the vet say about it?

Yeah, she went to the vet last Friday and we told the vet that she was recently throwing up, but at the time, it wasn't everyday, and we advised him we changed foods and it doesn't happen. He took her blood, ran it for tests and called me Monday to say everything was normal.

She does it at the same time every day and never does it any other time?
I almost want to say its psychological.

What time does she eat dinner? Maybe there is too much time between dinner and breakfast?
When Charlie's stomach is empty he will throw up bile.

Re: I'm at my wits end......
Cooper was a notorious puker when we first got him... even up until about a year ago (maybe a little less). We took him to the Dr. a number of times and left with no answers. Finally it got so bad that we took him to a specialist who diagnosed him with, what in people is called GIRD (gastro intestinal reflux disease). He's on medication now and it's maintained that way. He takes a half tab of Prilosec every morning along with a half tab of Carafate (it's like a steroid). The Dr. told us he will most likely be on Prilosec forever... but at this point, its worth it to us to give him the pill (he's good with taking it too).
This is something you might want to suggest if you take her to the vet. Good luck!!

I'm so sorry Betsy, I don't really know what to say but I wanted to offer and that she stops this behavior.
Lauren might be right, since there's no physical explanation for it. Is it possible she's doing it to get your attention??

Yes, it only happens in the morning, sometimes before we get up in the morning, and other times, within 20 min of waking up.

She eats when we get home. Btw 5pm-6pm. She chews on her kong all night and gets the treats out, and we give her small pieces of liver treat when she does tricks, or does good behavior.
So, all in all, she eats 1 kong treat and 1/2 liver treat a night after dinner. She always goes #2 before bedtime...

I'm not an expert at all, but if it were Charlie that might be it. He's bigger so he would have to actually skip a meal to throw up bile but there are times when he doesn't eat dinner or breakfast. Like if we are visiting somewhere and he is too excited or sometimes when he is hot he doesn't want to eat. Inevitably he throws up bile in those situations.
It seems like she is eating frequently throughout the day with the 3 meals and then there is a long stretch at night when she doesn't eat. it might be worth bringing up to your doctor.
When Charlie is actually sick (or panting like crazy after exercise in the summer) he will throw up food, but it's always that he has skipped a meal when he throws up bile.
I hope this helps! I know it's horrible when something is wrong and you can't figure out what the cause is.

Re: I'm at my wits end......
DH and i had a rottie that would sometimes throw up after drinking too much water - so then it would just be water and bile. is it possible that she is drinking a lot when she first wakes up and is throwing that up?

Is she sleeping in your bed or her own bed?
If she's sleeping in your bed, do you think she might be allergic to your detergent?

Molly used to throw up alot too. I found that it was when she wouldn't eat - that she would throw up bile the next morning.

The reason I ask - my mothers dog - we would notice he would get sick some morning and not others - well after paying attention - it was Saturdays and Sundays - weird right? Well, we figured it out -my parents slept later on the weekends then during the week.
It was his sleeping schedule was off

Re: I'm at my wits end......
Bella use to throw up in the morning all of the time when she was a puppy, and the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her. He suggested to feed her a handful of food before we went to bed so her tummy wouldn't be empty, and it worked!! She now rarely pukes, only when we go away and her schedule gets thrown off.

Yes, she sleeps with us - she's been doing so since July without any issues and we haven't switched any laundry detergents.

Yup, every morning since this started. 6am on the dot when the alarm goes off.

Maybe we'll try this tonight afetr she comes in and see if it works. It's worth a shot.
