Ikea Kitchen
Anybody have an Ikea Kitchen? Looking for feedback about your experience. Talked to a sales person yesterday. I already planned the majority of it. Just need to close and I can pull the trigger as they have 20% off right now.
TIA

Re: Ikea Kitchen
In the process of getting one right now, so far it looks good but still waiting on the countertops. That goes thru a seperate company they use,not the same that installs the cabinets. The cabinet/kitchen company have been very nice so far. FM me with any more q's.

Re: Ikea Kitchen
We have one, and I LOVE It. I would never spend 30,000+ on a kitchen knowing what I know now about their kitchens. I LOVE LOVE LOVE our cabinets (and counters also Ikea). We are going on 7 years old now and they are still as good as they were the day they were installed (by ourselves!). The have so many great features, so customizable and they have held up to all of my kids REALLY well. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Re: Ikea Kitchen
We recently purchased our cabinets and quartz countertops from Ikea. We haven't put all the cabinets together yet, but DH says they look pretty sturdy.
As far as price - I think our cabinets were about $3,700 after the 20% off, so it's a great price point. For a similar amount of cabinets (actually 3 less since we decided to double face the peninsula) the least expensive all-wood maple cabinets we found were just over $6,300.
We initially also purchased a fridge and a dishwasher, but we returned them after I had a chance to research on CR. The reviews weren't terrible, but they weren't great either.
ETA: we went with Adel off-white and a white/gray quartz countertop

Re: Ikea Kitchen
We are putting ours in now. DH is doing most of the work on weekends, so it's taking a while. So far we've installed three wall cabs and two base cabs. I put the cabinets together and it was very easy- after the first couple it took about 20 minutes a cabinet.
Their installation system is really easy and the cabinets on the walls are very securing, something that concerned me.
We spent about $3k on 14 cabinets and all the hardware, kitchen cart, countertops (we were going to get butcher block, but we know we'd be crappy with the upkeep, so we got the wood-look laminate, which is really nice), microwave, and sink. I purchased the faucet, fridge and range elsewhere.

Re: Ikea Kitchen
Thanks for the replies.
We are planning a Ramsjo Red-Brown kitchen. I will try and post a picture later. As for appliances, i only plan on doing the dishwasher as its integrated and I would like the front panel to match. There appliances are made by whirlpool btw. Like the above poster said, not great reviews but not horrible so I'm gonna try it.
As for cost, i think i have 14 cabinets and a dishwasher/sink at 5200 and then take off 20% which will bring me back to 4200. We are doing this DIY.
Going back to IKEA after i got more accurate parts in the planner to have ikea do things I can't do. Having hard time making the island as they told me to use a wall cabinet on the floor with a base.
I think there hardware and cabinets are very sharp and think that its a great value.
Found this website while planning.

Re: Ikea Kitchen
We love our ikea kitchen. It's been in place for about 5 years now. My DH put the whole thing together. We didn't need new appliances, so for the cabinets, granite countertops, new tile floor, faucet, new range hood, etc... I think we spent about $12,000.

Dd the staff help you design the kitchen? I think my dh and I may be able to do the work of the cabinets, but we have zero imagination.
Did you change your floors and stuff by yourself too?

No, we measured and did the plan ourselves with the kitchen planner. Yes, we did the floors ourselves. It is a floating laminate right over some old linoleum, just the kind that clicks together.

Re: Ikea Kitchen
We have an Ikea kitchen, it is almost 6 years old and it looks great (minus the corners that are beat up from the kids). I think they are great value. We installed them ourselves.

We had help from a staff member at the store, which was great. But either I mismeasured (which I doubt because DH and I both took measurements on our own, compared them and re-measured as needed) because we're going to have some issues with spaces. But we'll figure it out.
Someone upthread mentioned the Ikea Fans site- if you're going to do an Ikea kitchen it's a great resource.

We close Thursday and should be ordering before the sale ends Sunday. Still making some tweaks to some cabinets, etc..

Re: Ikea Kitchen
While researching kitchens, I heard that if you have the free Ikea family card they will honor sale prices for 90 days past the end of the sale, including on kitchen cabinets. Definitely needs to be confirmed with Ikea since I read it on a kitchen design message board but thought it might be useful to know since the 20% sale ends this week.

Re: Ikea Kitchen
All our cabinets are in. We made a peninsula using 3 base cabinets that we secured to the floor. Only the upper cabinets have doors so far. Lazy susan on lower is installed, and the upper will be tonight. It's starting to look like a real kitchen! Appliances come tomorrow.
