Bump. Kathleen Rice tweeted against Bannon's appointment. Since there is no reason to call and bug her to do so, I instead sent a thank you. Rice is the rep for much of Nassau, so if she's yours - go to her website and thank her. Here's the email I sent.
Dear Representative Rice,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your tweets regarding the appointment of Steve Bannon. As a Jewish family living in Nassau County, we never thought we would have to worry or be concerned for our and our children's safety and wellbeing. The election of Trump has changed that, and his appointment of Bannon has made it even more apparent that we in fact do have cause for concern. We appreciate that you, as our representative, are standing up against this appointment and making it clear that this is not the type of person you feel should have the president's ear. We appreciate your support, and we truly are stronger together.

I called my congressman's local office this morning, not his DC one- I got through right away and chatted with a very nice staffer. She said they had been getting a lot of calls against Bannon and I am expecting a strong condemnation of him- especially since my congressman is openly gay.
I tried calling the senators but then saw that both issued statements- and to be honest I don't know that there is a lot to be done because it's a Presidential appointment. But I am glad to see opposition.

Thank you for this thread! This was exactly what I wanted to find.
I am in congressional district two: it's Pete King, a republican. Even his website annoys me, but I'm glad I can put pressure on Trump's side with my local vote since my presidential vote got swallowed up by the electoral college.
I will probably donate to NARAL and The Center for Reproductive Rights in anticipation of the SCOTUS battle.

The pantsuit nation is a secret (as in hidden, not hush hush) facebook group started a couple of weeks before the election in support of Hillary. I was added when there were 50k members and there are now over 3 million. You can only be added by someone who is already a member so it's pretty troll free. Pantsuit refers to hillary's pantsuits. It was and still is a sort of sanctuary for Hillary supporters and a place where people felt safe to share why they supported her. It was pretty inspirational and full of stories. Regional groups have been created to focus on mobilization now that the election is over. Local groups are forming all over the country and people are getting together to work on contacting local representatives, organizing protests, and travel plans for the women's march on Washington scheduled for 1/21.

All of this, but I think a Bernie supporter can still fit it, because there's also a spirit of feminism and empowerment for women and girls.
I agree, especially now.
I was just reading in the Long Island chapter's group that they're organizing an interfaith meet and greet at the Islamic center of LI next month- just as an example of things that the group is doing.

I saw something on PSNY about supporting quality media so I am thinking about a digital subscription to WaPo- DH already subscribes to NYT because he needs it for work.
But I also feel like corporate media really shit the bed with this election- with all the candidates- giving Trump too much attention while overlooking candidates like Kasich who were more qualified (IMO) but less flashy. And I won't go in to the absurdity over Hillary's emails. Does anyone follow or donate to any media watchdog type organizations, or maybe support financially lesser-known but objective news sites/organizations?

Saw this on FB! A lawyer friend of mine confirmed it's worth a shot:
The votes in many states are very very very close, still. The last day to audit the vote is NOV. 23. The DOJ is currently tallying requests for this. If you haven't yet, please call the Dept. of Justuce Public Comment Line (202-353-1555) and leave them message urging them to "audit the vote."
Script: “My name is ___, and I’m a registered voter. I’m urging you to support the call to audit the vote, investigate voter suppression, particularly in North Carolina, Florida and Wisconsin, and investigate Russian tampering of US election results."
If it's busy try again. You will get though!!! ETA: Took me about 3 min of trying and was able to leave a message!

I have been trying for the last several minutes to do this and it's busy! A good sign I hope.
In the meantime I emailed the USGA, which is holding its 2017 Women's Open at Trump National in NJ, and asked them to rethink. Probably won't matter- they decide these years in advance- but what the hell. Link if anyone is interested. Select "US Women's Open Feedback"

I am no longer on LI but it's great to see something happening.
I tossed around the idea of going to DC but I seem to attract bad weather when I travel in the winter.  So I am going to the NYC march with my DD and I think I have talked a few moms and their kids into going.
Also, if anyone is interested, Kelloggs stopped advertising on Breitbart and is taking a lot of flak- nasty stuff- so if anyone is inclined to post something kind on their FB page or call their headquarters I am sure it will be appreciated.

Today there was a new group created as an offshoot from PN NY Called "Getting stuff done NYS". Its more about action rather than just posts.
