If you switched your child's formula...
how long did you give the new formula to see whether it worked or if you needed to try something else? I'm going to call the ped tomorrow for her opinion but wondering what BTDT moms did. I switched DD to Similac Sensitive 4 days ago and she is continuing to have bad gas drinking it. I'm not sure how long I should keep her on it before I think about trying out something new.

My dd was better on it at first but then got worse. She was arching and grunting. Then we tried alimentum and it worked after a few days. She never arched while eating again.

When I switched DS from Enfamil newborn to Nutramigen, we saw a difference almost immediately. The dr told us to give it 48 hours though.

I was ready to give it a week. It took about 3-4 days to see a difference and about a week to be a complete change. Good luck.

Try putting milacon or gas drops into the milk. When DS was a baby that made such a huge difference!

Re: If you switched your child's formula...
Thanks everyone! I went through the same thing with DS but I can't remember what I did for the life of me lol. It's so hard to tell whether the gas she is experiencing is just normal newborn gas because she needs to strengthen her digestive system or if it's because of the formula. I guess I'll give this formula at least a week and then see whether I want to switch her again if the gas continues.

I think it took about a week.
One thing though - we switched DS to Similac Sensitive and it didn't do anything for his gas - it actually made it worse. Gentlease worked better for us for gas.

About a week. We went from Similac Advance, to Sensitive, then to Alimentum. He was a lot better on Alimentum.
