I always assume it's a surprise even if it doesn't explicitly say it. Loose lips sink ships...so I wouldn't say anything to the bride-to-be.

Unless the invite requests you to RSVP to the bride herself, I would assume the shower is a surprise.

I would assume that it was a surprise unless the bride-to-be mentioned it to me herself.
The bridesmaid that did my invitations forgot to mention that it was a surprise and two guests told me because they assumed that it wasn't. It totally wasn't their fault, but I was a little disappointed.

Just because an invitation pest say its a surprise doesn't mean that it's not. I always assume its a surprise unless told otherwise...

I always thought it was a given that bridal showers were a surprise. Apparently a lot of people don't. We just threw one for a family member - and the invitation DID say "surprise" in big letters. And yet people still mentioned it and were "shocked" that it was a surprise. I don't get it.

I would think it wasn't a surprise but I'd operate under the pretense that it was until I'm specifically told.
If I was throwing a surprise shower, I would say so on the invite, but in case the hostess forgot, or assumes all showers are surprises, I would act like it was one.
