I had paid maternity until my son was five months old.
My mom watched him for one month after that and he started at six months old.

I was fortunate enough to have a relative watch my son for my first 4 months back to work and then he started daycare full time at 7.5 months.

DD was almost 18 months when we put her in daycare. I had family watching her during the week but it was getting too stressful for me to find back ups when people couldn't watch her. She's now in 2 days per week and family still watches her the other 3 days.

He's now 19 months and I will say I think it is a great experience for him. He learns SO much there and get so much interaction with the other kids.

It is so true.
When I say I dreaded the very thought -- I DREADED IT. I was so nervous and scared of him starting. He was six months, and omg I used to cry thinking about it, in anticipation of going back to work.
Meanwhile, what a Godsend. He loves it, has learned so much, and is beyond social!! It is great - I'm so thankful. I wish I knew then what I know now otherwise I wouldn't have made myself so sick over it!

I quit my job to be a SAHM. I planned to stay home until my DD turned 2 unless I was pregnant before that and then I would return to work when my youngest was 2. When DD turned 1 I decided I wanted to go back part time. Part time turned into full time shortly thereafter.
I wasn't cut out to be a SAHM. I am a much better parent now that I am back at work.

DD was 3 years old. Someone was watching her up until that point but I decided that it would be better if she was in a preschool program at a daycare
