If you like MAC products. . .
Do you like MAC stores? I am new to MAC since they opened a store in Grand Central , but I HATE the store.
There is 1 helpful employee & I haven't seen him there in a while.
I don't know if it is b/c it in in a train station & small, but it is awful.
It is hard to get anyone to help you & then if you go to take something off the shelf (some things like eye shadows have stock on the shelves-no indication it is for staff only) they yell at you for helping yourself.
Are all MAC stores this bitchy?

Re: If you like MAC products. . .
Honestly, in my experience it's hit or miss based on the store AND based on the day.......
You can go to one of their stores and have a miserable customer service experience... and go another day to the same place and it can be great... And, some makeup artists who work there are much better than others.
So, like I said- hit or miss- and yes, it's very frustrating
Sometimes I find the counters better overall.

Re: If you like MAC products. . .
I only go to the Mac at Nordstorms and they've been great. Although my fav is the one at the Freehold Mall and that's NJ so that doesn't help
Maybe Westbury has better customer service at the Nordstroms. I use them over the MAc store. It's too nuts in there

I agree...hit or miss.
I was at MAC in Macys at Roosevelt Field. I had this one girl who was not only helpful with products but she applied makeup, talked me through it and then had ME try to apply. She showed me what I was doing wrong and how technique helps so much!
She was awesome and plan on going back to her to purchase more in future.
I also spend $110!

Re: If you like MAC products. . .
I think it also depends on how busy.
For me, I have always had luck with the store at Smith Haven. Whether I go into Macy's and use the counter there or the actual store. They are helpful and willing to help once they are available. The busier times are harder, obviously, but most of the time I like it.
I don't ever remember having a really bad experience although the one at Macy's in Roosevelt Field wasn't the best - they were SO busy and everyone was doing make-up.

Re: If you like MAC products. . .
Thanks guys. I hate them so much because now I love their darn eyeshadows & hate their sales people! Bastards!
I think part of it is how busy it is. It is like they were trained by the master plan for all MAC stores & part of that must include trying to come off as "experts" and they don't take into considertaion that people in a train station or other busy location shop differently.
There is a L'Occitane & an Origins in Grand Central that are much better with that. The Origins people can talk your ear off trying to show you new stuff, but you can also just run in & grab something if you are in a hurry & know what you want.
I rarely go to malls or department stores--most of my makeup is a free-standing Sephora in Manhattan, or Duane Reade/CVS, so this is my only MAC experience.
Eyeshadows I think I can buy on line, b/c I am more picky about the amount fo sparkle thn the color--since I like a ton of different colors & the amount of sparkle is usually in the description.

I hate the MAC store in Roosevelt Field. I could be standing there for 20 minutes, knowing what I want and getting no help!!! I usually go to MAC in Macys or Nordstrom.

i do NOT like the one at Grand Central, HOWEVER, it is the only one close by to me. its the easiest just for jumping in and getting something.

Re: If you like MAC products. . .
even though I HATE HATE HATE Sunrise Mall- there is a MAC counter in the Macy's.. and b/c no one hardly ever shops at sunrise (because it is terrible) the MAC counter is usually pretty open- and the people there are super nice, never had any problems.
I've also had good luck at the MAC store @ the Flatiron Building (it's on 22nd side, not 23rd side)
